Will adding castor oil to Silk Elements Regular relaxer make it mild??

I went to Sally's today and they only had Silk Elements regular... I usually use a mild relaxer. I'm planning to add castor oil to it to slow it down. Is castor oil the best oil to use? Also, how much oil should I add?

Thanks in advance

I always add about a 1/4 of a cup. I really need the extra time, whew rough new growth. Actually I use baby oil...it has mineral oil???

With Phyto I used only 1 TBS EVOO. I didn't add anything to SE since it already has Shea Butter in it and I haven't experienced any burning w/ either relaxer. If you add anything to SE I would not add too much.

I think when you add any type of oil it does weaken the relaxer a bit, depending on how much you add..I'm speaking from my own experience (and my mother's)..I once added oil to my regular no-lye Optimum relaxer and it did not get my hair as straight as it usually did..never again..My mother had super relaxer and added oil to weaken it..it worked great, the super worked like a regular relaxer..didn't get her hair too straight

I add about 1/4 cup of olive oil to my Silk Elements Regular. I have fine porous hair so this is necessary. I still ended up getting some straight parts even though I only left it on for 12-15 minutes

Castor Oil is a thicker oil, so it may work better than olive oil. To answer your question oil does make the relaxer weaker, I don't know if it makes it as weak as the mild because I have never used the mild before:)
