i jes began wearing wigs. am currently not doing extra except cowashing, DCing, moisturizing and what I regularly do. However, I am curious and worried about my edges. Do wigs thin them out?
I don't think a wig itself can really help with growth per say. Wigs have definately helped meminimize breakage because: I manipulate my own hair less and my hair stays moisturized for longer because it's not exposed to the air.
I have been using Emu oil consistently while wearing wigs. It's helped my edges the most.
That is my protective style 99.9% of the time for the last 5 months. and I have seen good growth.. I co-wash at least 2 times a week and deep condition at least once.
I dont know if anyone else does this but I sew my wigs on for extra security and keeps me from playing in my hair.

I have been wearing half wigs for 4 months and my hair line is doing fine. I notice no thinning at all. My mom even commented on how full my edges looked.
I ALWAYS make sure to take the combs out of the wig. Those will cause your hair to break.

Not if you pay special attention to your edges. I keep them moisturized and seal with an oil. I also like to use growth aids on my edges for good measure (ayurvedic oils, MT, OCT, emu oil- even used this before to help fill in a bald spot). No thinning here yet. I've been wearing them for about 3 years now.
