Has anyone experienced breakage from wearing wigs. I have gotten breakage on the hairline in the back and on top from the friction. This sucks!

I'm not a wig guru but I've read that wearing a wig cap helps prevent hairline damage/breakage because the wig cap provides a surface for the wig band to slide/rub against, instead of rubbing directly against your hairline.

Also, check out the Crown and Glory website. She has a special segment about wigs. In it she mentions a special wig cap and she explains why others do not work as well. Though I am sorry about your mishap, I wish you well and happy hair growing inspite of it all! :)

Co-signing with the other ladies. A wig cap is the key to prevent friction and breakage on the fragile areas of your hair. A silk/satin scarf even sounds like a better idea.:yep:

Crown and Glory suggest the "Comfy Grip" approx $30. I'm new to wigs, but have been wearing a mesh cap with a silk band tied around the sides...

Should also keep your own hair beneath the wig well moisturized so that the rubbing doesn't affect it.

Hey Gurl  ,
My method of wig wearing has allowed me to never recieve breakage. I first CO wash my hair and use my favorite leave ins being sure to seal my ends with oil. I comb my hair back with a large tooth comb and use a thin plastic shower cap to cover my wet hair. I put a wig cap over the plastic shower cap. I never use a wig cap on my dry hair without having a plastic shower cap under it because the tiny hairs at the hair line can easily get caught up in the elastic net and you will experience breakage! The wet hair under the shower cap keeps your scalp cool as well because otherwise it can get rather hot under that wig :angry2: !

Damn girl that still seems hot. I'll try it this weekend just in case it gets to hot and I have to snatch that bad boy off.

How do you avoid sweating? My head is already hot w/o anything additional and just the wig...Also doesn't the water drip? Does the plastic make a crinkly sound? Pls enlighten me, as I'd love to use a new protection method...
