I've been using BT for the past 2 months and I'm 20 weeks post. I want and need to relax BAD! I read that its recommended that one discontinue use for 7 days prior to relaxing (some even say 2 weeks) .

I have an event to attend this Saturday, the last time I used it was Sunday. I'm just curious to know what exactly will happen???

i think it's because the sulfur can cause you to burn faster.

I noticed my scalp burned more after I started using BT. The first relaxer after using BT I stopped 7 days before and I got a lot of burning. My next relaxer is 1/10 and I stopped BT on 12/26- a full 14 days before- so hopefully I won't burn. 14 days allows me to get at least 3 shampoos in before relaxing and hopefully a lot of the sulfur residue will be off my scalp.

I believe the sulfur from the BT will prevent the relaxer from straightening and will definitely burn your scalp.

I got a relaxer when using B.T without washing it out prior to. My roots were underprocessed, and YES, I BURNED. lol. A week is to get out the product as well as giving your scalp time to "recover" from the washing process Just in case you scratched your scalp, etc)
