I use the applicator ottle, too. To make sure I get the shampoo on my scalp only. After cleansing my scalp, I rinse. I figure the water and shampoo running through my hair is enough to get it clean. Then I lather my scalp again with the moisturizing shampoo and squeegee it down the length so it isn't quite so squeaky. HTH!

Just an update....

.....so i dunno, i know i hate how clarifying felt with the dryness factor....but maybe its just something you deal with , and then work on getting the moisture back in...leaving you with softer lighter hair than when its unclarified???......

anyway just happy to report , all is well that ends well

I don't know if you've read this thread Damaged Hair Treatment Instructions but in case you haven't you might find this interesting due your experince with claifying. When I read this along with the thoughts of clarifying shampoo's harshness (stripping of hair to a degree that's unknown to me) it became second nature to want to classify clarifying to some degree as damage (see thread). I'm not trying to say clarifying is a bad thing but that your hair has to recover from the effects caused by the clarifying. What it takes to recover depends on how strong the clarifier is, how much is stripped, etc..... I really don't have time at present to go very deep into thinking it through (I spend too much time on net...per my family) but I wanted to share this thread with you as a FYI for possible consideration.

I hope the above makes sense...please excuse any typos. <spagirl rushing off computer.>

[/ QUOTE ] Thank you for sharing that, you know just thinking about it, I really dont get the point of totally stripping the hair just to need to put it all back....so maybe i just wont clarify again, i mean i was never unhappy with how my hair turned out before the clarifying anyway, so maybe it just has no use for me...im happy with removing most build up and oils etc with a conditioner wash or shampoo wash, i dont need to have everything taken out....so i doubt i will do it again...now , for my daughter im a little more confused because it really helped her scalp....i think for her if i were to try it again, i would dilute it and only apply it to the scalp like others were doing (i really didnt know thats all others did, i thought the purpose of clarifying was for build up on the hair "and" scalp. not just primarily the scalp. my hair is still feeling a little dryer than usual, but i know i can recover from it, i just dont think i would need to do this for any reason again...well, now i can forever settle in my mind the question of if i need to clarify or not and if i am missing something by not doing it....yeah im missing the dry, stripped hair

Your welcome!

I know what you mean. This clarifying thing can get.

I had to go back and modify a previous post on build up and try to clarify (no pun intended) a few things. The main thing I guess is if your hair isn't being effected by build up (limp, lifeless, unresolved dryness due non-water soluble products, etc.) then your present regime is working just fine. If not, the link to the modification I made today on the "Hair Tips" thread might give you a few more things to ponder. HTH!
