Why is my hair skrinking?

Um...I'm really confused what this product we'd like to call SURGE 14 is doing for me. I spray my scalp (mainly the front and sides) at it night, then trinkle droplets of Jojoba oil it and wrap it. I have to oil it unless my hair will be dry and frizzie in the morning. Anyways, when I unwrap it the next morning, my roots are WAVEY! ?!?! So wavy that it made my hair 1 1/2 inches shorter than it's normal length!!!

Why is the Surge making my roots (I don't want to say new growth, cause I don't have THAT MUCH newgrowth, just alittle) wavy and shrink? The waves are beautiful but doesn't look right with 3 inches of 'wave' and 5 inches of straight...

I'm reallllllly confused /images/graemlins/scratchchin.gif to know if Surge 14 is working. I don't use it twice a day or wash daily like the bottle tells you to because if I do, my hair will dry out and just look /images/graemlins/angry2.gif JACKED UP! /images/graemlins/angry2.gif I don't have time to wash/condition/rollerset/dryer everyday.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME WHATS GOING ON AND WHY IT'S MAKING MY ROOTS DO THIS? /images/graemlins/huh.gif

Ha! Your second reply was funny.

I would need to ask some investigatory questions first...

What happens to you hair when it gets wet? Does it wave up? Get frizzy? Most likely the cause of the waves is...hold on to your doo rag...MOISTURE! The Surge wets your hair. When your hair...whether it's permed or not...gets wet, it will still try to revert or "wave up" as you have described. You can prove that by looking at your freshly washed hair when you get out of the shower. Even if you run a comb through it...most likely it will show a very loose wave pattern on the permed ends.

The only way to make sure that it stays straight is to blow it dry that way or tie your sleeping scarf down so tight that it stays flat. That would give me a headache.

If the waves really bother you, you might want to blow your roots straight before you go to bed. I personally could'nt reccomend that if you are trying to avoid heat. But if it is really important that the roots look like the permed ends you either have to a) blow the roots dry and straight or b) flat iron the roots in the morning when you get up.

Let us know how it turns out.

I noticed a typo...maybe thats why nobody is responding. Ugh. I typed skrinking instead of shrinking. YA'LL KNOW WHAT I MEAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shoot.

Well thank you POOKEYLOU for your response. I will try the blow drying method.

Hi,

Some have said surge causes relaxer reversion. I think it made my hair revert as well so I stopped using it the week after relaxing. I'm sure there is a thread on this.
