Whenever I try to do wash and go, my hair either gets all tangled or I end up with single strand knots???

That's just something you'll most likely have to deal with when doing wash n' go's. You're never gonna be able to run your fingers through a wash n' go and have no tangles but that dosen't make it a bad thing. My hair does both and I don't worry about either. Although those ssk's are the devil.
