I just wanted to add that I believe in the lead hair theory as well. Chicoro gave me the advice of just letting my hair grow and allowing the hair to even itself out. I grew it out after i BC'd and for a while it was very uneven. About 2 years later my hair was in a V but the sides were all the same length. Then my hair eventually caught up to the lead hairs (see my avatar pic).

I now maintain the length and trim once a year. I'm a believer in no trimming unless absolutely necessary.

Yes, most definitely. One of the challenges I was in helped me to realize some of my hairs growing phases. Right now I'm in the catch-up phase, where my shorter hairs grow and my longer hairs remain stagnant, mainly the back of my head is at rest and the front is growing.
I'm not going to dust my hair until March, so that's plenty of time to assess.
