Why does no lye relaxaers change your hair color?

TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I am wondering if it just happens to me. When I was natural, my hair kept color better and even when I was texlaxed with S curl, I kept color better and longer. Is it just no lye relaxers that strip color from the hair? Can someone recommend a good lye relaxer? Thanks in advance!:wave:
