Illl, I went and bought at s**t today and I took it and nearly threw up. I had 2 choices. I was like I could either deal with the 23 tablets and take them for the next few days or go buy another in hopes that they would take the bottle back and give me my regular Biotin that Im used to.

Sure enough I went back into that store and exchanged it for my Biotin. Even though I had to pay $15 more, that MSM w/ biotin and silica was making me nauseauted.**** excuse the spelling - no spell check on this thing.

But yeah, that was my experience with MSM, Im scared to try it again, and does it really change your hair texture???? Please let me know, cause I might go and get it again, and if it does, does it make it softer or harder or just more manageable???

hm.. i was going to try msm but idk now. i'm not too good with pills that dont have a pleasant scent. thats why i stopped taking ultranourish hair. they are HUGE AND stink??! oh man... cant do it.

Re: Damn - Why Does MSM stink and look like that

What brand was it? It shouldn't smell...at least mine didn't. I use powder now and that doesn't smell either? Either that or I'm just used to smells, my Cysteine used to knock me out, now I don't taste it...same for the kelp.

Re: Damn - Why Does MSM stink and look like that

I have 'pure' MSM, and it does not smell. Sounds like it was a bad batch.

MSM is a white powder and no, it does not stink because it is odorless.

I don't know what you bought, but it sure doesn't sound like MSM to me. Even in tablet form MSM should not have a smell and it should be white in colour.

23 tablets? Why you would have had to take 23 tablets I just do not know. Are you sure you read the instructions. I doubt that you would ever have to take 23 tablets of any particular mineral or vitamin, ever. The instruction on my MSM powder says mix one half (1/2) teaspoon daily with 8oz or 250 ml of water or juice. So I dont understand why you're taking or took 23 tablets.

Biotin is totally different from MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) so I really don't know why people keep comparing them. Biotin is a B vitamin and MSM is a mineral consisting of organic sulfur.

As far as changing the hair texture, please read up other posts on MSM because more than one person has experienced a texture change. If I actually recall, you PM'd me a while back asking questions about MSM including where I got the powder and I replied you by PM and also in the post where a few others wanted to know.

I think she is saying there was 23 tabs in the bottle.

Re: Damn - Why Does MSM stink and look like that

I have pure MSM powder and there is no scent what-so-ever. I add 1/4 teaspoon too my water and I don't even taste it. I would take that back wherever you got it from.

Um first off, the total amount of pills in the bottle are 23. I did not say that I would take 23 of them at once, I said I was contemplating on returning it or just dealing with taking the 23 tablets for the next few days. Meaning one everyday for 23 days. And yeah it was MSM, with Biotin and Silica in one. And I know that Biotin does not stink and the main ingredient was MSM but yeah. Im absolutely positively sure of what I bought. And I could be mistaken about the number of pills in the bottle, but um I buy my vitamins from GNC, Im sure its not bootleg.

Re: Damn - Why Does MSM stink and look like that

I have MSM tablets from GNC and they do not stink.
I can smell a very slight caramel-like fragrance, but I have to practically put them up my nose in order to even smell that.

So it was a GNC product? I don't think I've ever seen that particular mix before , good thing you took it bac though if it was smelling, but I would still try MSM again, at the least you got a bad batch.

Msm don't stink, I have it in both tablet and crystal form. I think the smell must be from the silica. I bought silica yesterday and it stank like mad, it stinks even worse than my L-cysteine, I had to go wash my hands immediately as the smell lingered. since neither biotin nor MSM stinks, it has to be the silica. OH and MSM does loosen you curl partern a bit. HTH

MSM is derived (sp) from sulphur and sulpher smells like rotten eggs.

Yes! sulfur smells, but not after it has been processed into pill, powder/flakes or crystal form. They use a certain method to get the smell out. There is a website with all the info on MSM. I will find it when I am less busy.
