Why does it take so long for bantu knots to dry

Big or small my hair takes forever to dry and never comes out curly all the way. I wash last nite and used WGO and 3X moisture leave by Neutrogena around 7pm last nite and now at 2pm I'm still damp????? Maybe it's too much oil?

I think it has something to do with the fact that the hair is twisted. I know that when I airdry in braids or even clipped up in a banana clip my hair takes longer to dry, especially the inside, as opposed to if I just let it dry loose.

When I do bantu knots, I sit under a hooded dryer for a little while (maybe 30 minutes or so). Then I let it finish airdrying overnight.
