Why do some conditioners contain SLS?

I never understood this erplexed Queen Helene Cholestrol has sls in it. I think elucence conditioner does too because it lathers up like a soap when you mix it with water.

Why, why, why do they do this

Someone educate me on the logic of this

I've always wondered the same thing. I used to try to convince myself that it was a good thing, especially when cowashing - thinking even though I was ladling up a pound of conditioner on my head, my scalp would get clean without having to take extra steps (like an ACV rinse) to get it clean.

It's a surfactant so I see no need to have my conditioner lather up even a little bit, if there is no reason behind it

Just found the ingredients to elucence...SLS is not in the ingedients.

Elucence lathers a lot so I'm still curious, I also left it one time overnight and my cuticle was hard and I love emb as a detangler-it's one of my staple conditioners I wonder what is in it that would create lather?

Yeah ORS Hair Mayo has SLS too. I guess its to help the product to rinse cleanly.
