Why Do Bad Things Keep Happening To Me...

**No, this isn't about me, it was a question one of my classmates asked today.**

"Why do bad things keep happening to me in my life? It's almost has if I'm cursed because everytime I turn around, something bad happens."

Are you or do you know someone who feels this way? Any thoughts?

Yep I do..but it all depends on the person interpretation of what is bad..some things are shaping tools but again it all depends who is looking at the situations..sometimes ppl me included it very diffcult to see past the nonsense that is very present instead of seeing up a head.

Yep its true, life was never meant to be easy but I think its better to concentrate on what is going right in your life. You got a life ain't ya????. To me life is one of the most precious things that I can have, besides the family God has given me. The fact that when I wake I can see the daylight (Praise the Lord), is another awesome blessing in addition to countless others.

In my bible study the other day, In Deuteronomy (repeated again in Matthew), God promised that no matter what is happening in our lives he will always feed us. That's a basic promise and something to be very grateful for, considering there are so many who sleep and wake on an empty stomach.

Not meaning to preach but I realise that when I am down about the things that are going wrong in my life, its because I am not grateful for what is going right.

Be blessed OP. Everything has a season!!

I must admit OP, I did not read your post properly, I thought you were asking the question....hehehe...Sorry!

I would tell her because she continues to focus on the bad things happening to her. She's not cursed, she just thinks she is. If she continues to sow bad thoughts, she can't reap anything else. She's very blessed I'm sure. She should look to the future instead of focusing on the past. Easier said than done but it works.

I think everyone gets to a point where they think that bad things are only happening to them. However, it's focusing on the positive that will bring you out of that negative place you are dwelling in.

Once I start feeling like nothings going right for me,everything I do is wrong,etc...I just begin to think about anything good that happened to me during the week, day, or past hour if I have to.Anything to bring me out of the negative place I'm pushing myself into.

I wish I knew Scripture like the back of my hand, but I'll get there one day. Lol. I agree with what's been said. Many of us have been there at one point or another. A couple things come to mind:

*Those who are closest to God experience Satan's attacks the most. I think to Job. If your classmate is in this category, he/she should just hold strong. Don't be defeated. Stay on God's side. Just because person X is experiencing joy on Earth, doesn't mean person X will experience joy after this life.

*There's also the case where bad things can be happening as a result of disobedience to God. This was SOOO me in the years before. I kept on saying "Why me" until one day He told me "You need to start obeying me". It can be as big as sexual sin or as small as not listening when God points you to buy this car instead of that one.

*Then, as others have stated, it can just be a matter of perspective. Consider all the positive things in one's life, and the negative things will become smaller.

You know, it's funny that you can tell where ppl are going in life by their words. Out of the abundance of your heart your mouth speaks and as a man thinketh in his/her heart so is s/he.

Tell her when she changes her words she'll change her life!

Best post by far!!!! You've got it!!! I used to believe that if I were righteous, then only good things would happen to me. But God had to teach me that He created good as well as evil (He doesn't commit evil, but the Creator is creator of all).

Amen.....well said, esp the bolded.

As a side-note, "JOY" can be experienced even in bad times. A Believer who is being attacked through no fault of their own (sin/disobedience) can be joyful. Doesn't mean they're not going through it; just that they are enjoying themselves in the Lord while going through that test of their Faith.
One minister said once, since he started his walk, he's never has a bad day. This Scripture may have a lot to do with this perspective:

Psalm 118:24 - "This is the day the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Works every time.
