Still IN! T-minus 14 WEEKS and counting! Trying to make it to the 16 week mark which is Dec. 13th for me. I even purposely haven't ordered my phyto so that I wouldn't be tempted to retouch early!

I am ready though....blew my hair out and flatironed it for T-giving and my family was surprised at how long it had grown since January but my new growth was not as straight as it could have been and it kept drawing up. I am excited to see what kind of growth I got at the end of this challenge. :p

I'm happy I did this already. As soon as it's over, I'll be stretching again for 16 weeks. :D

Go 'head girl!!! That's what I'm talkin about! I feel the same way...right now I'm about 20 weeks post, but I ain't even hurtin for a relaxer...detangling has become more challenging and time consuming, but it's definitely not unbearable.

I'm having a hard time finding a stylist AND I'm falling in love with my coils and springs...

I'm seriously considering transitioning at this point.

We shall see.

Part of me wants a relaxer so bad. But because of my hetic schedule with school and work, It's best not to get one.

I've been doing the baggie for the majority of the time. My hair is getting to the point to where I cant even do rollersets anymore becuase of the new growth. I have to air dry my hair now. If I'm going to stretch 'till April, I'm going to have to get braids. It's the only (tried and true) way I'll get through.

If you're looking for a stylist have you tried your local JC Penny Salon? My current stylist works there and she does a good job.

I'm still in! My last relaxer was Sept 7th, I think. I'm in braids now. My next relaxer definitely be after the new year.

I never officially joined the Stretch Challenge but I would like to say that I will be 6 months post in two weeks which is my goal before I get a relaxer. It was easier than expected. I did mainly rollersets with updo's and twist outs. It would not have been possible for me with out my weekly deep conditioners of honey and EVOO and a mixer of other things. That stuff is da bomb!! I will have to post pictures of my results from my wash last night. Some of my co-workers who know I am stretching thought I had gotten a relaxer. In two weeks I will definitely be able to see how much it has grown. During this time it has gotten thicker and maintainable. I can put a wide tooth comb through it wet with no problem. I always get asked the question as to "How do you comb it". I just respond by saying "giving it moisture".
I have to say I have definitely gotten on to the road to healthy hair. Thanks ladies of LHCF!!

Time sure does fly! Cant believe its December already. I have made it but Im thinking of stretching until March, (my birthday) with the help of braids of course.

You're the third person to suggest the JCP salon to me. Everyone I talk to says they do a really great job, and when I was in middle school, I had a friend who got her hair done there, and it always looked healthy. Maybe I'll check into that. Thanks! :look:

After 24 LONG weeks of stretching my relaxer, I finally got a touch-up this past Friday. All I can say is that it was a long time and my hair was starting to break. I don't think I'll wait that long again, but I will stock up on some of those cheap $20 quick weaves to prevent me from manipulating my hair in the weeks close to my touch-up.

My sis put a motions lye regular relaxer in my hair on the 9th and it was apparent as it was drying that the ends need to be cut. My sis didn't want to cut it...lol(we both run form the scissors sometimes), but this was needed cause I neglected to moisurize my ends effectively for months, so it suffered. She cut about 2.5 inches off. Just about what i grew out on the stretch, plus a .5 inch more. My hair is growing pretty fast now, so I didn't cry about it. Looking forward to the next stretch, I wont neglect moisture next time around.
