Hi, I'm kind of nervous starting a thread but I have a burning question for you girls. Í purchased a quick weave by Outre. Well I maid some cornrows in the back and left some hair in the front out. I want to wear this fall for the rest of the week but what can I do to the front of my hair to maintain a freshly flat ironed look without flat ironing it every day :( ??? I tried pincurls but they did not come out right.

Here is a picture of the fall:

Good question. I'm not sure but I have become BORED with my daily bun and was considering a fall as an alternative. I just assumed that my hair would stay straight for days. What was my problem!!!! :p

Tie it down with a scarf. Put some type of moisturizer on it first. I used to use QP Curl Wax bc I didn't want my hair to revert. Anything water based (gel, etc) will make it revert.

Cosigning on what Bmore said, I currently am 16 weeks post, so at times I am having to resort to headbands, I flat iron it once a week, I also find that the keracare oil works for me especially to give sheen, and leave out as little hair as possible, it does not have to be placed midway the head,

But should I wrap it around my head? Because if I would comb my hair straight back and cover it with a scarf, the knot of the scarf would cause a bump in the ends of my hair I think .

Tie it down at night. Just enough so your hair will lay down. You shouldn't be tieing it tight enough to get a lump. If you use a pomade or wax, your hair will stay dry after you've flat ironed it. No lump. If you use gel or something that will "wet" it, and tie it too tight you'll get the lump. Are you sleeping with the fall on or taking it off at night?

Thanks girls for responding so quickly to my first thread.

Thanks bmore, I will try that tonight.

OOps i didn't see your question. No i'm definately not sleeping with the fall on. That would cause a lot of breakage I think.

Yeah, I've heard that before. But to each his own. I've done it with no problem in college bc I hated to have to refind the part every morning when wearing them for an extended period of time. I'd just take it off periodically to comb through my hair (usually on wash day). Now if I'm wearing a fall for a week or two I snatch that thing off as soon as I get in the house. Just try tieing your hair down. I only flat ironed maybe once in a blue moon. I usually wore a fall after a fresh relaxer and wrap or a blow out so my hair was already straight. As long as I kept a scarf on it at night it would stay straight and down all day until my next wash.

Refinding the part every day is very difficult but I can hardly sleep with a scarf on my head so that's why I decided to cornrow. But that means I cant style my own hair in between. I got the idea from MsKibibi to do pincurls instead of the cornrows. If only I could do them right :(.

I wear (and love!) falls. Sometimes, I don't even leave hair out in front. I just tuck it all underneath the fall and cover the "seam" with a headband. If I do leave hair out, I pincurl it and tie it down like bmore said. It's worked so far!

That's what I do now that I'm natural. I don't want there to be a difference between my natural hair and the straight hair on the fall. So I gel the edges down with Fantasia gel, brush it back and tie a scarf around the front as a headband. I leave a little edges showing. Nobody even knows the difference.

Ladies,

Where can I purchase a nice fall? Are there different choices for different hair types?

ETA: Is a Quick Weave the same as a fall?

Preciousjewel: I'm really loving the curly fall in your fotki. Looks great!

Thanks! I got all of my falls from goldenmartbeautysupply.com. They have a great selection and they're not very expensive at all. The hard part is trying to figure out your hair color; you may want to go to a wig shop/BSS and match up your color so you know what to order online.

OMG! I just bought a fall this weekend. I'm trying to work up the courage to wear it at work.

Glad to see that others are thinking the same way. BMore: I'm gonna have to try your technique because the fall I got is straighter than my hair is and I don't want to add heat to my edges, you know?

As always, ya'll are reading my mind!!! :D

Oooh thanks girl. I have a few pony tails from years ago so I know I'll need a 1B in color, now it's just figuring out which style to get.

I have that same one on in my avatar. I like how it looks when its freshly washed, very cute. Anyway, just like all the other ladies said, I just tie my hair down at night with a satin scarf to keep the front straight. Right now, I'm 8 weeks post and I have to much new growth so I just have all my own hair pulled back in a ponytail and put the fall on over it. I cover where the fall starts with a cute little headband.
