I'm thinking about doing this so my hair looks fresher, but I keep seeing it being a pain after a while. Are any of you have success w/ this frequency?

First, it takes TOO LONG for my rollersets - it eats up at least half of my day.
Secondly, I used to wash frequently, but my hair didn't do well. When I started cutting back the number of washings, my hair retained so much more length.

I go back and forth. I was washing and roller setting my hair twice a week but lately I am too lazy to do it more than once a week. My hair does fine either way. The only thing is that when I only wash my hair once a week, by the third day I have to pull it back in a ponytail and by the end of the week my scalp is itching like crazy.

I usually wash my hair twice a week but I only rollerset on the weekend. Now that I've been using the mesh rollers, which as made the rolling process much easier, I am going to start rollersetting everytime I wash. Plus you can sleep in the mesh rollers if you set the pins right.

I shampoo and rollerset every 4 days, which is just over once a week. My hair does fine with that regimen. :) I usually rollerset at least four times a week using setting lotion, which is a pain because it takes about 1 1/2 hours to do my whole head. If I don't use really small sections, my hair has no chance of drying by the next morning.

I con wash and rollerset up to three times per week. I like my hair fresh and bouncy just about every day. To make the process go a little quicker I deep condition before I go to bed then wet set on BIG three inch diameter rollers (the size of coke cans) then I let it air dry. It's usually dry by the next morning. It was a pain when I first started doing it.. but now it's just part of the routine. The payoff is hair that is healthy with lots of body everyday.

I do. Sitting under the dryer right now as I'm typing.

I usually do a CO on Wednesday and then full pre-shampoo con, shampoo and deep conditioner and set on Saturday. My hair is really thriving with this routine. Trying to learn how to roller wrap and still have bounce in the morning now.

I do!

I've been doing this all along, washing twice per week and rollersetting to airdry overnight. So far, so good.

I DO! I DO! I DO! I rollerset my hair on average about 2x/week. I have not found any problems with this. Infact my hair seems to enjoy the deep conditioning treatments I give my haive every time a wash it which is also 2x/week. I wash, followed by a deep conditioner and rollerset using just a leave in and a serum. I use the purple rollers because I want the curly look! Turns out bouncy and shiney everytime and I get compliments or stares about every time!

I do the same but every three days. Three days is my limit to have fresh styled hair. Anything after three days is a little stale. I could never go a a full week without a wash and set.

I love your rollerset! I may attempt purple rollers or even mesh ones of the same size just for that curly look!:)

It IS a pain after a while. I used to do this, and still do when I have the time and energy. But it does eat up quite a bot of time even if you're really fast at it. :ohwell:

I takes me 45 minutes total to wash and deep condition, 20 minutes to do a set, and then an hour and a half to dry. That's over two full hours. If you do one on the weeknd , that would make it easier, and then maybe do a Wednesday wash. That's how I used to do it so that I wasn't doing it WEEK nights all the time.

Anyway - it's a nice thing to do, and I'm sure your hair will likey - but it's a pain in the toosh. No doubt about that!

I'd like to wash and rollerset my own hair at home but I'm afraid that it will take me forever to roll it up... i guess that's a committment i'm going to have to make. I think i'll stock up on products now so when we get a big snow and i'm stuck inside, I finally have the time to do something to it.

I shampoo deep condition on Sunday and co wash and deep condition on Wednesdays. I roller set each time, it takes me 15 mins to put rollers in and about 3hours to air dry, then scrape it back in a bun as I am currently wearing protective styles to grow my hair.

The only reason I find I am able to cope with doing rollersets 2x per week is because I air dry with rollers I could no way do it if I sat under the dryer. At least with air drying I can do other things whilst my hair is drying.

Yeah, my hair is beginning to get stale after 3-4 days. I do a dry rollerset nightly, but it's not like that wet rollerset. But the wet takes sooooo long and if my roots aren't completely straight, it'll annoy me for the rest of the day. And, I know I would have to sit under the dryer for about an hour then airdry for the rest of the way or the crown area won't get dry. I'm going to wash today and time myself.

I rollerset evrytime I wash my hair. I do it once or twice a week deending on the climate and social events.
The whole process is taking me 3 and half hours, I need help for rolling my long hair but I have a very helpful neighbour or my husband may help on weekend.
What prevents me to rolerset systematically twice a week is the "hood nightmare". I think going to this discipline would be a plus for my hair

I would love to do this, but I get so lazy. I will intend to rollerset and get lazy and just let it airdry, but then I get mad in the morning because the airdry is NOT a hairstyle. At least with rollersetting you're drying and styling at the same time. :)

Sometimes. I can get away rollersetting 2x a week within the first 4 weeks post relaxer when my hair is "straight" and new growth hasn't manifested in force -- I can wash, condition and rollerset in about 1 hour and need 3 hours to dry -- not bad and can be done mid week with out staying up too late. After week 4, however, the time spend being extra gentle detangling and managing the two textures and the manipulation required to rollerset becomes more and more challenging and time consuming and I give in and cut back to only 1x per week. I DO rollersets up to 11 weeks without any problems, just need TIME to do it right and avoid breakage. I have 4b relaxed.

I would love to but there is no way for me right now........I can hardly get motivated to do it once a week ( I know, I know... badggirl, bad girl :spank:
