Is it okay to u se the refined butter with scent added or should i buy it unrefined w/ no scent?

From what I've read here it best to use unrefined, raw shea butter. You get better results. Go to this website:nasabb.com. They have unrefined shea butter.

I just sent for my order of shea butter and black soap yesterday and I can't wait.

Unrefined shea is of course the best as it has all of its original, untapped benefits....some cant stand the smell, the shea I buy has a mild odor but too me it doesnt stink, I love the smell...really earthy. The hair and skin benefits are heavenly!
I got mine from todieforsoap.com
They have a buy one get one free sale this week on their unrefined shea butter!

I have used unrefined w/o scents, refined w/o scents & unrefined with scent- I liked them all. Trial & error is the only way to tell what's good for you ;)

thanks everyone! I'm only worried about putting it on and smelling bad. Where do you get unrefined with a scent?

I use it and love it. It doesn't smell bad at all. However, it's VERY heavy and I wouldn't dream of trying to use it for a style. But it's great for moisturizing. Also, I'm relaxed but I'm sure it would rock for natural hair as well.

you can scent it yourself with essential oils....all my shea butter mixes smell like peppermint :D

I use unrefined shea and love it. Mine is unscented but I have a scent that I use from FNWL.

Hi nubianqt86,

FNWL=From Nature With Love. Here;s the web-page: www.fromnaturewithlove.com

I will be placing an order with them next week. I can't wait to try the pumpkin pie and gingerbread fragrance oil. :lick:  I'm also getting shea butter and hemp seed butter. :yep:

I bought the pumpin pie and am not impressed. I thought it would smell sweeter when in fact it smells more like cloves with a dash of cinnamon. I don't like it at all.

I like to use unrefined vs refined, it seems to work better on my hair. I have refined now (found it in my local area), but I am ordering some unrefined from Nasabb's next week (I cannot wait!).

I love the unrefined shea butter,The refined has chemicals...and whatever else they felt like putting in it.I feel if the scent is the issue add essential oils to your butter.I was shopping in a open market one day and I saw scented shea butter products.

Interested I looked at the ingrediants,to see all they added was some scented oils(eg:vanilla,lavender,ect..) and just mixed it up!

For their more skin directed products they just added vitamin e oil. After I saw that I've been experimenting with my shea butter ever since.

You can use whatever you want. Know this, refined my get gritty when it is warmed, then cooled afterward. Plus these store that are selling it charge an arm and a leg, when you can get 1lb, which is more than enough, for like 10bucks including shipping! Plus it will last a long time, and I have no issues w/ the real thing!

Thanks again everyone! I think I'll go ahead and buy the unrefined and then try experimenting with the essential oils.

Too much!! Like $6 maybe $7... But it's good stuff. I have mixed it with other things too

That's a good price. Can I order this online? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just in search of obtaining some good shea butter at a reasonable price. :)

When I saw you mention your dry hair in another post I was going to suggest that you give this a try. I use it on my daughter & my own damp natural hair. Maybe some relaxed ladies can tell you how they use it. With shea butter a little goes a long way. ;)
