Did you suffer any ill effects? Is it safe? Will my hair fall out? I am pretty sure that I am going to go back to lye but am a little nervous. There just aren't enough people in this city that do Phyto's!

I switched my daughter from Phyto to a lye relaxer and she has breaking going on but I am not sure if that is what caused it or something else. I am just trying to work on keeping the balance of moisture & protein, but now that you ask it makes me wonder if that contributed to the problem. The phyto relaxer seem to make her hair very dry, but some people love it, so I guess it varies.

Phyto was a disaster for me. If it hadn't made me so anti-relaxer I would have gone back to lye - but I decided to transition after that nightmare.

Thanks Jazzy. I like Phyto a lot but I am not good at doing my own relaxers (too much overlap) and I just don't know of enough places here in ATL who do the Phyto's. The place I went to for my last one, the girl didn't work it through good enough so it was puffy in places. I don't know what to do! I need to know who successfully left Phyto for lye.

Places in atl that do phyto...
Nseya- both locations- midtown and roswel
Salon and Spa at Castleberry

I switched to a mild lye (vitale professional) after phyto and my hair was fine. phyto made my hair dry, and dull looking and feeling. My hair was shinier and less dry as soon as i switched back to lye.

Imani...

Yeah. I went to Nseya for the second one and it was slightly underprocessed. Did you have any breakage after switching to lye?

I had phyto done at a salon once. I really liked the results, but did not like the $135 that it cost to get it done. Then I self-relaxed with Johnson Products no-lye. My hair was like no more no-lye mami, please! :nono: (the dryness)

I've been self relaxing with ORS lye ever since and I haven't seen any ill effects.

Shishipoo if you want to stick with phyto it's a salon in Decatur that does them, the stylist Salika or Nate' @ 404-243-5404 they have been doing hair for years and I just found out they use phyto. Maybe call a salon and find out if they think it's safe. I think the fact that my daughter's hair was so dry made hers break. I'm sure plenty of people got tired of paying over $100 for t-ups and switch so you probably will be fine as long as you have all this good advice on LHCF!!
