Which one do you prefer? I'm going to purchase one in January, but can't decide which one to get!
Also, please list what you prefer about it. :)

Lol, I don't have a Maxiglide, but I sure do love my Sedu!! I don't like the bulkiness of the maxiglide, and those little teeth?!

I was about to post the exact opposite thing. I don't have a Sedu but, i love my maxiglide (because of the teeth).

I don't own either, but I was impressed by the Maxiglide commercial I saw today. The teeth and steam seem to get the hair very straight. They were selling the regular maxiglide, plus a smaller one, plus varioius products for appx. $120 (3 payments of 39.99).

That is the same price I paid for my Chi. I like my Chi but always game for something that works better. I gave my T3 to my sister. How does Sedu work, same principle as Maxiglide?

I have a CHI, but I'm not impressed with it :ohwell:
The sedu does not have the teeth or steam burst like maxiglide does (I'm not sure if that's good or bad though) :)

SEDU BABY!! i don't have a maxiglide but i saw it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and it looked too big and bulky for my taste. btw i have a sedu review in my album.

I have a maxi, I didnt like the steam function or the teeth as it frizzed me underporcessed hair and pull some shair out. Using the maxi with the flat plates and no steam however is wonderful, it gets my hair bone straight on setting 4. Refer to my lonei3 album, November pics.

I have both. And while I love the maxiglide steam, the sedu gets my hair flatter. But I like to use both, the maxiglide to soften it the first pass and the sedu to get it straighter so there is less bulk.

I have both. I love the maxiglide. I'm natural and so the maxiglide has created a whole new hair era for me. I can actually get my hair straight without the pressing comb. It's a miracle.

I still use my sedu to bump my hair after I straighten it. The maxiglide is larger than what I'm used to but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's a must have for naturals that straighten!

I've bought the sedu and returned it and I own a chi and maxiglide. The sedu was ok, I think it was better for the hair than the chi. However, if the maxiglide weren't so hot, it would be better than both of them. It straightens better than either the sedu or the chi b/c it actually unwinds the curl instead of flatenning the curl. It also makes my hair silkier and smooth. It just wins hands down for me. But since the maxiglide is so hot, I'll probably only use it on very special occasions and use the chi when I have to use a flatiron. HTH :)

I have both.

Me and Maxi were cool at first. I was natural and it actually straightened my hair! It was a miracle. We were in love for about a year.

I bought the Sedu after the Maxiglide's teeth started ripping out my hair. So needless to say, I prefer my Sedu. No flat iron has ever gotten my hair smoother or silkier than the Sedu.

I purchased my Sedu about a year ago. At the time, I'd just had a big chop, so I didn't get much use of it myself until my hair started growing out. But my daughter's hair is very long and thick, and she absolutely LOVES when she gets her hair washed now because she likes the end results. I use the Sedu with a light protective serum and her hair's like SILK!

I've never tried the Maxiglide (nor the CHI), but for the price, the Sedu has been one of my best hair care investments.

I bought Chi and Sedu at the same time. Chi was to hot for my hair no temperature control settings sold it to my aunt. The Sedu love it goes through hair smooth no snagging plus temperature control setting.

I voted for neither because I have a maxi glide but what I don't understand is why does it leaves my hair smelling burnt, even with the setting on the lowest temper possible, I have the setting as close to the off switch as it can go and my hair still smells burnt. I don't understand I mean my hair is thick so I just don't get it...Am I using the right heat protectant?...I think not....but I want to try the sedu or FHI but I'm torn between the two:)

I have the maxiglide and the miniglide....I've only used the miniglide because the maxi was/is too big and bulky...I'm assuming I'll have better use for it once my hair gets longer. :look:

My sentiments exactly. Love them BOTH!

I used to own both but I got a refund for the maxiglide. Sedu hands down is the better iron. I would post comparison pics but my attachment files are too large and I don't know how to resize them. :ohwell:

Okay - I figured it out. I actually did a Maxiglide/Sedu comparison thread a while ago. Anywho - the first pic is the back of my hair once I blow dried. The second pic is of my hair after the Maxiglide. The third pic is 2 weeks later after I washed blow dried and used the Sedu. As mentioned, the steam on the Maxiglide is great, but it snags hairs. The Sedu always produces a very sleek look. I tried but I'm no good at taking pics of the back of my hair, so this will have to do. I am a natural 4A btw. Currently, the back is WL and the front is a little shorter.

ALL OF THESE PICS WERE TAKEN IN FEBRUARY 2006.

That does it ... I'm getting a Sedu.

Browndilocks you have a beautiful head of hair girl. I love it!! What product do you use when you flat iron. I had (threw in the garbage) a Maxiglide as well. It worked great as long as I detangled really well beforehand and with, 4a-z hair, that is diffucult to do when you have 2 years of new growth. It still pulled out a lot of my hair even though I followed everyones tips on here. One day I had to take a doublelook at the Maxiglide ...:eek::eek::eek: ... Silver was peeking through the plates. They say that the plates are ceramic but they are ceramic-coated -- the coating was wearing off  so I just threw that thing in the garbage.

I am getting a Sedu for myself once I reach my first 25 pounds. :D

Thank you Browndilocks for the comparisons ... (don't forget to tell me what you use when you flat iron k?)

Thanks SO MUCH for the comparison pics! I have been trying to figure out which flat iron to get my natural sister, who is 4a/b. I thought the maxi would do her good because of the crikly ends she gets that never got straight last time I worked on her hair, but I hear now that it is bulky, rips hair out and OVERPRICED (b/c it's not even full ceramic plates ?). I will get her the Sedu.:)

If she is natural, and if her ends are crinkly, then I doubt that you will be thrilled with the Sedu iron. I find that Chi is better than Sedu for natural hair, and I'm assuming it's because the Sedu plates are so slick/sleek, while the Chi plates are a heavier and is able to pull/flaten your hair a little more. The Sedu is amazing for permed hair imo.

I would probably get her a Chi iron, and I know that it's not mentioned on here, but it's better than Sedu imo for naturals. Since Chi is more assesible than Sedu, you should try to Sedu and immediately return it if it's not the results you want because I doubt it will get better. I've come to the conclusion that nothing is better than a pressing comb on natural hair.

Thank you :). I seldom use anything outside of the regular shampoo/condition with heat. When I do though, I mix a little bit of raw shea butter with NTM serum in my palms. I then distrubute through wet hair before blow drying. My best results however happen when I deep condition for 45 miutes under the dryer, rinse then blow dry and flat iron with no additional products. I may add a drop or 2 of serum after I have finished flat ironing if I decide to wrap my hair. No products during flat ironing equal salon swang every time. :p

I try not to flat iron my ends at all. The only time I do it is when I have to go out immediately after I flat iron. That's when I set the temperature to 200 and lightly bump the ends. Otherwise, I will flat iron my hair on 180 all the way down until I reach the ends, then wrap my hair overnight to smooth the ends out.
