Who or what has been your biggest support in your journal to natural hair?

I wanted to do it, so i just did it, lol. It wasn't really a matter of anyone 'supporting' the decision.

He still tripping? :(

He's not tripping, but he's very silent. I get very few compliments on it when it's in its natural state.

That said, my napps bring all the boys to the yard.:lachen:Since I've gone back to school and am around more enlightened individuals, I get tons of compliments, many from black men. It feels good, I can't even lie.:yep:

ETA: One guy approached me and complimented me, then said, "you don't see a lot of hair like that. I like it a lot."

I thought about that for a minute. It really made me not want to straighten my hair again for awhile because he's right...you don't see a lot of women wearing kinky hair in its kinky state like "what?" :lachen:

IRL - My friend who was natural for a little over a year (who then curly permed earlier this year). She's always saying the right things - my hair looks pretty, she loves my hairstyles, she can't wait to see me all natural, etc.
My sister is slowly warming up to it... she saw my 'Story of Transition' on curlynikki.com yesterday and she sent the link to 5 of her friends within minutes of me sending to her :lachen:

Soooooo many people on this board! I have learned, and am still learning, A LOT since I finally paid for membership in February. I've been inspired by soooo many transition stories, BCs and naturals...

I saw your stor on CN last night! I was like that's my girl Mummy! LOL.
Im such a groupie

My supports have been my sister, BF, and you all

This board is the best support I could have! :yep: Without it, I would most definately be relaxing it every time I see NG

Myself. When I told people I was going natural all I got was "Whatchu gonna do with it" :look::ohwell:.
My mom was the worse. Anytime I complained about my hair she told me to "perm it".

This board has been the biggest support. I also have a friend whose life seems to parallel mine. She shaved herself completely bald in '94 and I didn't get when she started talking about accepting herself as God made her and blah blah blah.

I get it now.

My husband tries to be supportive but I know that my husband prefers women with long hair - weave or not. But, then again, he also prefers younger, dumber women with bigger, firmer breasts and a bubble butt too so what's a girl to do. He never says anything but I know what turns his head. I know he loves me natural and all educated but when I put on a wig, put on my body armor and some bright red lipstick, he gets all fidgety and cute. :lachen:

I'm only going to get older, less firm and nappier.
Get over it dude.:yep:

Am natural, but working on my length and strength (lol):
My DH- he's seeing the progress and he lets me buy all the stuff i need and want to try out. He also doesn't complain about my hair being in boring cornrows all day and using a scarf at night (head ties to bed are NOT sexy at all)

This part makes me sad.....your beautiful...why would a man want something so common that you can by at walmart...idk..my momma was my inspiration..when I was a junior in hs my mom cut her off..complete bald..she tried to rock wigs but it didn't suit her..her forehead is a beamer so no hair at all looks best..with said my mom brings all the boys of the world to the yard...

I have bc 2 this time around I think I encourged some girls at school bc I have noticed quite a few naturals around.Esp when I would rock my hair when I bced it wo transitioning...

Without question, DH has been my biggest support.

He encouraged me to stop using weaves and then later to stop relaxing. He has become very interested in my hair, uses my products, talks to others about hair care, helps me oill my scalp, puts on my braid spray, helped do my BKT treatment and he has even started to pay more attention to his own hair (uses EVOO now on his scalp).
