Stick a fork in it cause I am! I stretched for 5 months this last time and did not gain anymore length or thickness than stretching for 3 months. Shoot, I may have lost some thickness. I went through all of that pain and torture for nothing. I did not bother to take pics this time except for the one in my avator. I'm sticking to 3 months from now on.

I'm not sure but maybe. I just came off of an 8 month stretch and am not that impressed by what I saw when the relaxer got rinsed out. Not to mention, I'm tired of my hairline looking like a hot forest mess after the 4 month mark.

I might go back to every 10-12 weeks. We'll see.

I'm on the fence. I did a 6-month stretch and I saw a difference, but it was A LOT of effort.

I would prefer to just rollerset and wear my hair down, and relax every 8-12 weeks. Relaxing more frequently makes styling a lot easier, and I don't need to use a lot of heat to wear my hair down.

Funny, I was thinking about starting a similar thread, "Who has NOT has success with stretching?" lol

LOL @ "hot forest mess"

I don't know girls, I might stretch it to 5 months this time. My hair growth definitely slows way down in the winter. Going more than 10 weeks in the summer was PURE TORTURE, but right now, I'm 10 weeks post and have absolutely no desire to relax anytime soon. I have *maybe* an inch of NG :nono:

I'm thinking I'll stick to long stretches in winter only, and then in summer scale it back to 10-12 weeks.

To the bold, stretching has been successful for me when I stick around the 12-14 wk. I did 16 wk one time. Anything pass the 16 wk mark for me is pain and torture for the end result. My new 2010 relaxer will be taking place closer to the 12 wk mark.

Exactly the same for me.

I had to laugh when I read the title...I feel you...No more 6 month or longer stretches for me either...

I plan to relax from 3-4 months here on out

:grin::grin: I'm surely released now! One of my hair idols is in agreement with me. Praise the lawd!

Girl when it reaches to a certain point i dont even want to touch the head anymore

Shoots right now its been just about 4 months and i really am not planning on texlaxing until maybe the end of 2010 since i will be in the weave challenge and others for 2010

ITA!!! 12-16 weeks is long enough for me!!! :yep::yep::yep:

Why you in this thread? You are NOT done:lachen:! Good Luck!

Me!!! I'm so over it! It was much simpler to deal with my hair back when I only did 3 months stretches. I got good growth with less breakage and set backs. I'm going back to that time .

ITA, anything over 3.5 months is a mess for me
I went from relaxing every 6 weeks to every 12-14 weeks - to me thats excellent, i'm all stretched out :)

I think I will relax every 4 months. I was debating on doing 6, but I think it is just too much trouble for me.:nono: I had so much shedding when I stretched for 6 months. At the time, I thought I was transitioning, but it was killing me!:lachen: My hair did grow well, but it was the summer time. I just used pony tails.

I agree anything over 3 1/2 months is too much, I start experiencing major shedding and some breakage... Right now I am at 4 mos and hoping to relax at the end of this week

I think I'll do the something similar. 10-12 weeks- spring to summer and stretch for fall/ winter, with braids/weave after 20 weeks post.

I completely agree...my hair was growing like a forest over the summer and I stretched for 12 weeks maximum...but this winter is a little hard on my hair and I don't have as much NG so I'll probably continue this stretch to 18 or 19 weeks..and then stretch for the remainder of the winter after that. :yep:

I did a 6 month stretch and I love how much healthier and thicker my new growth is. The draw back is dealing with all the new growth, detangling, the two textures. I didn't feel like 6 months was really worth it. So from now on i'm going to texlax every 12weeks... which is longer than my normal 8 weeks i've been doing.

Im Done my limit is 12 weeks thats it,its just to much for me to deal with.!!!!

OMG!!!! I thought I was the only one. Long stretches cause more harm than good for me. I'm currently 19 weeks and I hate wash day. Next year, I will relax around 16 weeks, no more than 20.

Add me to the list. I lost so much hair - combing it was so painful and the hair started to come out in clumps. All the length I gained was lost when I went in to trim away damaged hair.

Back at square one. But I'm ready to get it!

3 months is my limit. I just made a thread about all the hair I'm losing but I also wasn't detangling like I should.

Stretching is good but like anything else in life there has to be a balance.

Im in! I have broken off hair at the back because of stretches. My hair grows at a pretty fast rate, Im 2 months post and I have an inch + of new growth Ill be relaxing every 3-4 months. No more!

You're so lucky. Setbacks wouldn't bother me so much if my hair didnt grow so slowly. I get 1/4 a month. But my poor diet may be the blame.:ohwell:

I understand completely. I am currently at 5 months of stretching. I know I've lost more hair than I've gained due to tangles and matting. The only good is that I'm thinking of going natural now that I've come so far. If I do decide to relax again, then 12 weeks will be my max.
