Who here DOES NOT use a leave in after washing?

I just want to know if not using a leave in is a good idea? How has your hair been without one?

I'm thinking one reason to use one is to smooth the cuticle but wouldn't a final AVC rinse do that?
And if it's about moisture isn't that what the conditioner step in the washing process is for?

I don't use a leave in conditioner but I'm semi natural (color). When I do I use lil Humectress because you can use it as a daily creme to soften hard hair. I didn't use a leave in when I was relaxed either.

Hi Faith

I don't use a traditional "leave in", like I did during my relaxed days.
Now I'll simply leave a portion of my rinse out condition in my hair. Works perfectly fine for me :)

I usually dont use leave ins. I just apply a moisturizer, like ORS olive oil cream, after I shampoo. Works well for me.:look:

Sometimes I skip my leave-in if I've used a regular conditioner after shampooing. Other days I do the opposite and skip the rinse-out but use the leave-in. Either way I have to use something after shampooing, but one or the other generally suffices. I will go ahead and use both if I plan on using some sort of styling product afterwards because I'm sort of paranoid about making sure the gel or whatever doesn't dry my hair out.

Sometimes, I don't use a leave-in. In fact, I did that last night when I CO washed my hair. I just used a small amount of oil on my hair, put it up to airdry and went to bed. This morning, my hair was incredibly shiny, smooth, soft and silky. :drunk: Some of it was still damp when I put it in a bun this morning, but the hot temperatures took care of that. I just finished washing it, again. This time I used a small amount of S-Curl Spray and a little bit of oil before putting it up to airdry and going to bed.

It's

, now.

Hmmm...after joining this hair board I completely gave up any oils except for the natural oils aind started using the Infusium 23 leave in. IMO (this is only what I've expeirenced) my hair has become a lot more dry. Now I use the leave in and follow up with something a little heavier. :ohwell: After I use up the leave in, I'm going to get ride of it.

B4 I joined LHCF I never used leave ins.
My hair still grew nicely but nothing like it does now.

I'm convinced sylver2 is a living weed  . Girl when DIDN'T your hair grow??

I love it.

Thanks ladies.

Hey Peach :) Long time no see/talk. Your hair is looking awesome :)

cmw45, I didn't like infusium either...made my hair dry when I used it years ago.

I may try no leave in for a while and see what happens. I will use silken seal and frizz ease though to tame it but no real leave in.

I've purchased Cantu Leave in Creme Conditioner, Aura leave in elixer and Aveda leave in elixer. Ask me how many times I have used them all combined and you will suggest that I just give them away. What's my hair's health, you may ask? Just look in my album :)

Your hair looks great of course ;) So what do you use after washing? Any oils?

Well, because I do use silicone, I am afraid that it may prevent me from getting all the moisture that I need.

My leave in applied BEFORE the silicone gives me moisture, helps my hair airdry softly and prevents frizz.

I can do my hair once or twice without a leave in, but after a few times of doing that, my hair does get too dry.

Nah,no oils since I wash my hair late at night. What I tend to do is apply aloe vera gel to my hair and then Palmers Shea Butter Success in the morning.

I never use a leave in. Sometimes I use a glycerine/water mixture to moisturize. Lately I've just been using an oil mixture after I detangle my hair a little. I eventually braid and it works fine. I've tried things like salerm 21 and NTM but they just leave build up and cause tangling.

I don't. I just can't be bothered trying to find something that works.
I do however use sweet almond oil before applying gel.

I think I'll try something light like jojoba oil or almond oil after washing and see if that works. The creamy stuff just tangles my hair, even the liquid stuff does it a little bit.
