I want to know this answer. I know not all of us here are anti heat...But until I get my hair to air dry softer, then I need to know I can use heat more often without jeopardizing the health of my hair....?

I blow out my roots after rollersetting. Thats about it. Id blowdry after washing but my hair gets that parched look, feels rough and my ends get snarled sooner

I blow dry after every wash... right now just using a standard metall blow dryer (this thing is probably older than dirt), with Aphogee's Green Tea and Keratin reconstructor.

BUT I just ordered my T3 which should be here on Friday...I'll let ya'll know how that puppy works.

I only blow dry for emergencies...which usually means someone wants to go out with me and they're telling me this info last minute which doesnt give me enough time to air dry and such. BASTARDS! lol:lol:

I blow dry after just about every wash. However, I blow dry on the cool setting. Doesn't cause damage and leaves my hair much softer than air-drying. HTH!

Oh yea I do that too...but I usually have to follow up with my flat iron anyway. My texlaxed hair doesnt straighten easily.

RELLI? that works...the general idea is that the hotter the better...Lemme find out we are blow-FRYING our hair for nothing!!!

I usually blow dry because my hair just does not look right after air drying:ohwell: . I am in the process of trying different combinations, but have yet to find one that actually works. I envy the girls here who can air dry and have straight, SOFT hair. That just does not work for me. I also cannot blow dry after letting it partially air dry. I end up with more breakage. I think I am going to try blow drying on cool and doing partially blow drying to at least get it straight at the roots and then let it air dry.

I blowdried after every wash while it was cold outside. My hair is slow to dry and I don't like to go out with wet hair. Now that it's warmed up, I'm trying to cut back on the heat and I think my hair is going through withdrawal.

To the ladies who asked about my cool blow drying method. I use this method if I am going into braids or going to the shop to get my hair done. At the shop my stylist will still (sometimes) take a hot blow dryer to it to get it straighter..most of the time he doesnt. So I figure I am saving my hair from the extra heat since he would normally blow dry the heck out of it lol.
For me it works because I have really fine strands, blowdrying for me causes less breakage in the long run..then airdrying which would lead to more tangling and combing.

I used to, now I doubt that I will ever BD again. It was only a matter of time before it thinned out my hair horribly!

I don't now that I'm natural and wash so often, but on my pre-LHCF relaxed hair and during the last 9 months of my transition I did. I was washing once per week. I always blowdried, never flatironed or curled (unless it was some sort of special occasion).

i dont BD at all, only after a retouch, but if i did i definately dont think i could airdry first. i've always blowdryed on near enough wet hair.

I dont blowdry, but im thinking about it because my hair looks a mess airdried, and then when i go to flat iron it, it looks an even hotter mess.-
Question:
Does blowdrying make your hair look any better than sitting under a dryer

By sitting under the dryer, do you mean rollersets?

Not really, im just asking since airdrying is not working, would just regular old drying your hair under a hooded dryer give the same results as sitting there and combing a blowdryer through your hair
Or would sitting under the hooded dryer give the same results as airdrying since its not direct heat on each section
(hope im making sence"

IMO i think that blowdrying with a comb attachment works out better for those that are transitioning or are natural.

When I was relaxing my hair I got better results when I rollerset.

Now that I am transitioning when I wear my hair straight (which is like once every 2-3 months) the only way to get my natural hair straight like how I like it is to use a blow dryer. Rollersetting is a waste of time. To ME, it all depends on the individuals hair and the look you are trying to achieve.

I picked blow dry sometimes but really it is very rare for me to blow dry. If I don't have time to air-dry I will sit under the dryer which is healthier to me. Blow-drying just feels so damaging and it scares me. On the rare occasion that I do blow-dry, it's only for a few minutes.

If I want blow-out results I band my hair and let it air-dry that way. Results are in my album.

No blowdrying.

But, I do flatiron.

I had to stop because it was causing breakage, at least the comb attachment was.

I blow dry after EVERY wash. I wash once a week. I get so much breakage with air drying and it is not cute! I am careful to deep cond weekly and I use a good oil and leave in (WGHO & Hummectress). And i moisturize daily with UBH creme and dew. I rarely use protein during the week. My hair is still thick, and thru the week i have very minimal breakage. (although i could use a trim). When i blowdry I DO NOT use the comb attachment. I just comb/smoothe a section of my hair and then hold it taut with my hand and blow dry with the blowdrier at arms length, not close to my hair. I use the hot setting (shame on me). I used to get my hair rollerset every other week and then blow dry every other week. This worked best for me, but I've gotten too lazy to go to a salon for a set. After blowdrying, I usually do not flat-iron. My hair is straight enough from holding my hair taut while drying. If want a really straight look, then i'll flat-iron with my sedu. Or if i want the fresh perm look, i'll go to my friend/stylist for a blow-dry and a flat-iron. I usually wear a wrap, or I may wear a thin headband, or I may caruso it, or i may wear a cute bear clip with the back hanging out. Rarely my hair will feel dry or hard before wash time, so i'll put lots of oil in it and wear a ponytail for the rest of the week.

hmmm, why is blowdrying with the attachment not recommended for relaxed heads?

when i blowdry i HAVE to use this, that brush thing looks just scary and i would look like a lion with hirutism if i just use the dryer straight!!

So YOU are the person I got this from! I used this method for the first time while blowing my roots before my relaxer recently and it worked WONDERFULLY!!! My hair never looked so good blowdried. It was smooth and so straight & shiny. And best of all, my ends were protected.

Mind you, I have a crappy Vidal Sasoon hatchet-style blow dryer that is neither ceramic nor ionic, but you wouldn't have known that by looking at my hair. Along with the Fanatasia Heat Straightening Serum with Aloe, I wore my hair down for a special dinner & people thought my hair was relaxed when it was actually 12 weeks post! LOL. I rarely blow dry, but I'll always use this method.

I only blowdry after my hair gets too thick for my Dominican stylist to rollerset. That's usually the last month of my 12 week stretch. My hair is very thick and has continued to grow despite the heat. I do use the attachment and my dryer is on warm. I just got an ionic dryer that I used for the first time this past weekend, but I couldn't really tell the difference because my hair is so thick from all the new growth. I'm going for a retouch this week, so I won't use the dryer again for at least another 2 months. I get rollersets until the newgrowth is too much for her to deal with.:)

Normally I don't blow dry but I'm finding it useful since I'm a good 18 weeks since last relaxer retouch. I'm just careful to use heat protectors and my Lanza Strait Line relaxing balm.

Using the comb attachment, I very gently blow dry my hair after every wash. My hair has gotten thicker and stronger. Air drying makes my hair tangled, hard and in knots.
