I just wanted to see who has gotten results from using this product. I am trying to thicken my hair up especially aroung the edges ( all the way around)
Please tell me what results you got, and what you were trying to achieve.

I have been using MTG for about a month and for me the results have been great. I am about 8 weeks post relaxer and I have more newgrowth then I have ever had at 8 weeks. I also use it on my edges mainly concentrating on the temple area because it was thinning slightly, and it has basically filled in, with continued use i am confident that my temple area wont be a problem any more. So if you were thinking about gettin MTG I would strongly recomend it, I am planning on getting more to stock up. Im really glad I found out about it cuz its a great alternative to surge, the only drawback for surge with me was the watery consistency, when your trying to camoflauge 13 weeks of roots, water doesnt help! Since MTG is an oil there are no problems with your roots getting puffy after you straighten them or whatever. Also I didnt think the smell was a bad as people hyped it up to be, it doesnt bother me, and it goes away after I sleep on it, so its best to put it on at night and give the smell a chance to dispurse. Good luck if you decide to try it!

Thank you so much for responding, I do have it- I just started using it. I was wondering if anyone is seeing results...that way I have something to look forward to.

People may think I'm exagerating, bit i'm not. I literally got 1" of ng in 2 weeks of using mtg. I got my hair cut to 7" (not voluntarily  ) . Less than month later I've exceeded the amount that i had before it was cut. I've gained thickness in my hair and weak nape from overproccessing. New growth now is wavy and curly. I'm going to see if I can learn how to handle my new texture. I hope to grow it out and stretch my relaxers to hopefully 3 months or more. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.... Anyhow, I give mtg 2 thumbs up and I've learned that mango butter and surge lessens the smell. My hair normally grows slow, but since starting the stinky challenge and this mtg, my hair grows faster and I have no shedding whatsoever. That alone is worth me continuing and pushing this product. Forgive me for my pushiness! :notworthy

Natrlchallenge,

I don't use the mtg but all this talk about sulfer and hair growth has gotten me interested in finding a product with as much sulfer as possible. How much sulfer is in the mtg? so that I can find a product with that amount of sulfer and use it. I'm a lil concerned about using the mtg since it's not for humans.

Dmarie, I tried to inquire about the percentage from Liz at Shapleys and she told me it was proprietary. :-(

Nat, what brand of mango butter do you use? Where do you purchase it?

Senimoni,

I am curious...how many times per week do you use the MTG oil on your scalp? and how many times per day? Do you mask the smell at all? Has your washing routine changed since using it?

I too noticed that that was the tidbit of info she neglected to tell me when I emailed her. How do we know that's it's 5% then if that info is not being disclosed by the company itself? Did someone just arbitrarily come up with a number?

The only active ingredient is sulfer. Any other additaves are only there to make it an oil. I'm sure alot of those ingredients are in the stuff you use every day anyway. If they changed the label and TOLD you it was made for humans would you use it then? Most People drink milk. That ain't meant for human consumption.

why isn't milk for humans? never heard of that.

as to the mtg, i feel if i use it and somthing negative happens cause of me using it, then noone will be held responsible cause the makers don't endorse it as a product for humans. They'll say it was used in a way not suggested by them and therefore will not be responsible. do you use it?

DMarie

The product was originally made for humans before the horses jumped on the bandwagon and started using it for their tails. It's safe for both humans and horses.

It also has cade oil in it.

****This could be another reason for the funk****** Also to whomever said there friend was drinking this please note EXTERNAL USE ONLY.

CADE JUNIPER. Juniperus oxycedrus. Very pungent smokey aroma. The essential oil is for EXTERNAL USE ONLY and it should always be diluted with a suitable carrier oil such as Sweet Almond Oil before applying to the skin. Keep it away from children and pets. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals. ABORTIFACIENT. Do not use if pregnant. Very effective with skin complaints, dermatitis, eczema, hemorrhoids, detoxifying, but smells a bit like smoked kippers. (Also known as Cade Oil, Juniper Tar, Medlar Tree, Prickly Cedar, Prickly Juniper.)

I contacted the company and explained that I have some really bad allergic reactions to a variety of things and wanted to know what the ingredients are in the MTG. They would NOT tell me! I was told that if I'm not allergic to Sulfur, then I would OK.

Obviously, MTG is comprised of more than just Sulfur.

I'm kinda "up in the air" about using it b/c I've heard that although, many horses had an increase in mane and tail growth after using it, some actually lost a lot of hair and some even had bald spots! It's possible that they were using it improperly, but, I have no idea. I do know that IF I decide to try it, I will try not to overuse it for fear of this happening.

Happy Hair Growing!

ETA: I haven't heard about any hair loss due to humans using MTG, so I wonder if it's only been a problem for some horses. Hmmm.....

Yikes! Where did you hear/read that horses lost their hair, also. I am assuming that they dont want to give the ingredients out for fear it will be copied!!! The are certainly on to something if it is growing horse, and human hair.

i agree......

Yes I do use MTG, I also drink milk. But you can research food allergies and find numurous studies showing the obvious, cows milk is not biologically produced to nurse humans. My point is, noone thinks twice about drinking something that comes FROM an animal but are so leery about using something man made to go ON an animal and that's strange to me.

The thing is, it's common knowledge that sulfer is in other things manufactured for humans including hair products and that's the only active ingredient in MTG. I'm positive there are ingredients to be more concerened about in your lotion, deodorant, soap, perfume, and toothpaste.

But I understand your point that if something goes wrong they can try to say that it wasn't manufactured for humans and noone would be liable. But do you really think you'd have a case against Johnson and Johnson anyway if you got a rash?

I've also noticed that my hair doesn't itch at all anymore since using this...it's almost time for my relaxer and my hair hasn't endured ANY scratching! That is great for me, I itch soooo badly.

Glovers oil and Sulfer 8 have 2.5% sulfer. Glovers cream has 5%, so 5% sulfur is obviously safe for human use. If your hair reacts well to Glovers and Sulfer 8, then you should do well with MTG. I had great results using Sulfer 8, but I didn't like the thick consistency, so MTG was a good alternative for me. But, no one thing works for everybody.

Have a break bewteen the last use of Mtg and your relaxer, you don't want a bad reaction from the sulfer and the relaxer.
