My hair is relaxed but, it isn't really straight. I want bone straight hair now, so I think I'll try ORS. :spinning:

Thank soooo much all of you ladies. I'm going to purchase a relaxer today had to end my so call stretch. I'm looking at Affirm, ORS, Dark N Lovely, Silk Elements as well as Optimum Ceramide and Alter Ego Shea Butter....Wow. My selection will also depend on whats in stock. All of you were so very helpful. Keep them coming....I may have to actually try a few differents ones before I find the one my hair loves ;) Anna

Had no luck finding most of these relaxers Affirm etc. ORS couldn't find no-lye or Mild. I did get lucky and find two mild no-lye of the old cream of nature still on the shelves with their newer versions, since I was familar I purchased them. Thanks so much. I will still be searching in the future for a good no-lye mild when I can no longer find anymore of the old cream of nature.

I use ORS No-Lye and it works beautifully. I like Optimum Care's Anti-Breakage system relaxer too. I have little to no breakage, shedding when using these relaxers. I'm scurred of lye relaxers cause my scalp is sensitive.

If I could only have one relaxer for the rest of my life it would be Elasta Qp lye. I'm just hoping that the new owners don't change the formula. But, if they do, then I'll go back to Dudley's Lye which I love also.

It seems like your looking for a no-lye, if that's the case then I recommend Optimum. I used to use that for years before I switched to lye, and my sister still uses it. I absolutely hated Dark and Lovely. Worst ever!

OT: E Williams your hair is beautiful..

Ok, I have to vote for Phytorelaxer Index II.. I self-relax and it leaves my 4a hair bone straight w/out any damage, burning or stinging....Great relaxer

Totally cosigning on the beautiful hair. And the phytospecific index 2 - this is the ticket. I always wonder why it's never a poll option.

I use Influance Shea Butter (lye). It's a transitioner's dream...not that I am transitioning (I can't decide yet). My hair does not ever break at the line of demarcation between the relaxer and the new growth. In fact, when it is freshly relaxed, it feels more like an excellent press than anything else.

Mizani for Colored Treated Hair with Lye. Perfect shine and straightens my hair, lovely. No lye causes my hair to look dull and lifeless. I had to change stylist due to her not ever having used relaxers with lye. Sorry baby, that's not for my hair. :)

The only relaxer i've used that has gotten my hair completely straight is Mizani. I'm now using ORS because I love how silky and thick my hair is with it, but no matter how long I leave it on, my hair is not getting straight.

Wow!!! thanks girls. I knew that this would be a thread that I could get a lot of tips...turns out, endless tips. Thanks keep um coming...Anna

Now, I use to swear by Arosci, that was my relaxer. But since it is so hard for my stylist to get, she talked me into getting Mizani Butter Blend. Now, she knows I LOATHE Mizani relaxers. I have gotten them in the past and my hair stays straight for a month, if I am lucky.

Anyway, she talked me into the Mizani Butter and it is like but-tah!!! It keeps my hair straight and is very conditioning to my hair. My hair LOVES this relaxer. So, looks like I am on the Mizani Butter Blend train, for now.

I can't decide between Silk Elements, Ors Lye or maybe even Hawaiian Silky. The main reason why I'm scared to try Silk Elements is because some thread was created about women experiencing lots of shedding! Arrghh

I hear ya on the shedding bit. It left me wondering, are these women not rinsing and neutralizing thoroughly enough or is it just the relaxer. I here that it is very clinging to the hair; hard to get out. So if that's the issue, I can rinse and neutralize with a vengeance so that's no problem. If the relaxer just tends to eat at certain types of hair after a while, that's a risk I'd be very scared to take.

Any thoughts?

I've used SE 3 times(for touch-ups), and never had a problem with shedding. If anything, I find my hair to be healthier after using it (I used Phytorelaxer II twice, loved it the first time, second time...meh). I also go by Sistaslick's (spelling?) pre- and during relaxer tips...check out her articles, the lady knows what she's talking about. I also use Roux Porosity Control as part of my process, and I highly recommend it!

I just had really great results with Mizani Butter Blend, but I'm actually interested in transitioning to the Phytospecific relaxers. I've heard really good things about them on hair boards and from stylists.

I'm sticking with HS from here on out. I tried it today for my first self relax after a 4 month stretch and it was just awesome!

I purchased, SE (lye), Phyto II and Linange Shea Butter (lye) because it was going to be my first time Self-Relaxing and I opted for Linange Shea Butter (lye). Eliminated the Phyto after I decided I did not want to use No Lye again. The Linange went on smoothly did not burn at all and was a pleasant 1st time experience very easy to apply. Absolutely no relaxer smell. Almost like Conditioner. I was really nervous, since it was my first time so I was a little unprocessed in some areas, but the relaxer itself is nice. I purchased the neutralizing conditioner by them (but followed up with Color Coded Isoplus -- Although that probably wasn't necessary. And since I was so pleased with the way it felt, I ended up ordering the Restructing Mask that they recommend to accompany the relaxer and I will use that as well the next time I Relax. Linange Shea Butter Relaxer IMO is the Truth.

I've had great success with Deep Drilliance and Mizzani. As far as over the counter products go, African Pride was a staple for a long LONG time.
