Which Product ingredients should we definitely stay away from?

Notice the silence. I think that's the point. There are a lot of things out that there aren't natural, that have harmful effects like depleting moisturting and dulling color (aluminum laureyl and laureth sulfates). There are things that have been FOUND in cancerous breast tissue (parabens) but are not believed to CAUSE cancer - meaning cancerous tissues absorb the sulfates. There are things that are said to cause dry hair (cetearyl alcohol).

But harmful?

The truth is there is a lot more going on than simply putting bad things in your body. What about diet? What about OTHER harmful toxins we put into our body and how they interract with hair products?

I'd say it's more about being conscious of the products you choose to use. I've made the shift to sulfate free shampoos (Ecoly Papaya Dry Hair Shampoo) and I'm thinking of trying paraben free conditioners (Ecoly Sage Detangling Conditioner). Is it because I'm afraid they're making me sick? Nah...but I wanted to give my hair a chance and see if they are having negative effects on my ability to retain growth.

I know SistaSlick listed a few oils in her Hair Breakage 101 exerpt..... I dont recall if the oils were "bad for you" per se, but she stated that they prevented moisture from penetrating the hair shaft, and gave the illusion of moisture while actually drying the hair out and blocking real moisture. I dont remember what those ingredients were, so you may want to review that thread in the above Stickeys.

Look in the Health vs. Hair Sticky...People also have very mixed opinions about what is "harmful"
