I have heard so much about Amla oil and powder, henna, etc. and I've been able to find all of the products except for Amla powder. Can someone passs on a website where I can purchase it?

Thanks,

You can also purchase from Henna Sooq. Henna Sooq is a mail order site owned by a member of this forum. Her name is Khadija and her LHCF name is Hennasooq.

I order mine from both places!

I used my Amla powder for the first time the other day. It mixed it up with warm water and applied it as a paste to my hair. It was easy and didn't take a lot of time.

Please keep us posted on how you like it when you get it and use it.

Thank you Kinchen and J'Noir :). I will bet visiting both of those sites when I get home and getting some Amla powder. I got my Henna from the BSS, the brand is Egyptian but the ingredients say it's pure Henna. I'm going to do it for the first time today then I will try my Amla after I take my tree braids out I'm getting next weekend. I'll be sure to update you and post some pics.

Thanks again ladies.

MONIELOVE! STOP! The henna you got is Egyptian brand? Do you have a picture of it. I think that is the kind you shouldn't use. Show me a picture...

I get mine from my local Indian grocery store for $1.79. See package below.

Uttam Amla Powder

Soak Amla powder with adequate amount of water preferably in an iron vessel. Leave it overnight, and wash your hair in the morning with this extract. Repeat this every 3rd or 4th day. Alternatively prepare a consistent paste with Henna powder and apply it on the hair. Leave for half and hour and rinse the hair properly afterwards.

Regular usage of Amla gives nourishment to the hair. It may also remove mild dandruff from hair scalp while giving body to the strand.

Ladies, is the amla powder hard and cakey? I bought some last night from an Indian grocery store and it was so hard and caked up! I had to squeeze the bag many times to loosen it and even then I sifted it before I just threw out the pieces that were still caked up. I got a lot of the powder remaining, but was this just old stuff? It was by Hesh.

The Uttam Amla powder I have used is different in texture than henna. Henna is like "fine dust", amla is not as fine and tends to be "clumpier." This is my experience, for all I know it is supposed to be the same texture as henna. I have gotten very good results. I like adding it to henna to tone down the red tones.

Seems like they've been out of amla stock for months.

I know! I just ordered some from Henna Sooq because the cassia I got from her was very good quality. I bought some from a grocery store and I think it was stale or something.
