My hair is fluffy. I am in doing bootcamp right now so no direct heat.

Here's my issue. I live in Seattle and it's damp and rainy here almost constantly right now. My hair loves damp and rainy and gets floofy. It's not frizzy or frazzled, it's fluffy. I sleep with a scarf on at night and everything is usually find for an hour or two after I take it off in the morning but as soon as I'm outside, FLOOF.

What are some low-no heat ways to get it to bring down the fluff a notch?

My edges? Forget about it. I don't need them straight and crisp but not trying to curl up or point in weird directions would be great. I'm bunning right now and I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do or what styling products I can try to tame the fluff factor.

Or should I just live with it and rock it until I'm ready to stop bunning and do braid outs or something?

I'm really tired so there's a huge possibility this makes no sense. if necessary I can take a picture when I get home to show what I mean.

Hey, Seattle in the house!!!!

Now that i'm trying to transition i find myself having the same problem. back in my relaxed days this wouldn't be a problem, but now that i'm 22 weeks post its poof city.

Please somebody help us Seattle folk!!!!

I know its off topic but do you go to the salon to get your hair done? I don't go to the salon often but i'm looking for a new beautician. I have ound it extremely hard to find a beautician that doesn't cause damage, isn't scissor happy, and doesn't charge $90 for a flat iron.

Thanks!

I haven't been to a salon in years. The last one isn't around anymore but the lady not only charged me like 85$ for a relaxer but burned my ears and scalp. :(

The POOF is insane today.

Braid outs?

Bangs?

Please help us poor poofy haired Seattle people.

I have poofy hair too!

I have resigned myself to putting the pin straight styles on the shelf until all this beautiful spring rain goes away. The only time I'll wear it straight is when I come from the salon-- I don't know what magic my stylist does, but my hair stays silky for a full week when she does it.

Otherwise I mainly wear rollersets, don't comb the curls out, usually updos. To smooth my edges I just use the scarf method. I'm also a big fan of braidouts.

Me

For me---Buns, bantusets,
I use serums to help block everything out, and keep my hair tied up during rain or humid whether with my hood on (so i dont look a hot mess), then once i get in the building take my hood and head scarf off :nono:

Im thinking the same thing about longer hair and braidouts.

I think I'm going to invest in some more wraps until the weather calms down.

I'm going to try a steam treatment this weekend and see if that helps.

What about really heavy DC's? A little something to weigh the hair down a little?

Non gross gels?

Pomade maybe?

I need to step up my bunning ability.:nono:

So did anyone find out a solution? I wear low pony puff tuck style or a wash n go (rarely) if I know the weather will agree.

But I found that albeit boring the low pony puff tuck is a great protective style for wonderful hair growth retention!

have you tried the coconut milk & lime smoothing treatment? that might work for you. otherwise i'd slap in some leave-in conditioner, smoothe into a bun & go.:)

Oh I'd forgotten about this thread. In the end I just decided to rock my imperfect buns. But I have found since I started using a body butter as a moisturizer my hair is lots smoother. I need something heavy for winter and body butter does it.

Most of the time after I get up and take my scarf off at night my hair is smooth for a few hours but the Seattle wetness takes over.

I found dry rolling with my satin rollers helps when I feel like doing it.

I do the coconut lime in the summertime and it's so good. I don't get a lot of fluff control out of it but it leaves my hair soft and helps with my relaxer stretchers.
