as a protective style or wig challenege, do you braid your hair wet or blow dry then braid?

oooh ok..so you let your hair air dry first and then braid...hmm

I was gonna start and join in the wig challenege and wash and braid my hair up tonite and throw on my wig for tomorrow..but uhmm I am tired now so it won't happen until Saturday lol

I can't do neat cornrows so I do this cornrow-like thing in the shower so I don't hear that hair popping sound and so it'll be tight.

I don't blowdry, but I let it airdry in braids so it'll be stretched out.....sometimes it's a little damp.
I did blowdry once because my sister was complaining about my hair being nappy, but I won't any more....unless it's the tension method.

ETA: Good luck with the wig challenge! HHG!

I keep my hair braided 24/7. I will either wash and condition my hair in braids then rebraid.

Or I will undo my dry braids, finger detangle, rebraid then wash or condition. It basically depends on my mood.

I typically braid on damp hair after airdry for a lil bit after washing my hair. or I will 2-strand twist my hair on damp hair and wear under my wig cap. Both methods work for me while I'm on the wig challenge. I just keep my hair moisturized underneath and clean too.

I wan2 know too, i used to air dry im plats then cornrow but i realized i can braid it wet it was less time consuming. . . .but either way i get knots and splits. . . Blow drying is defeating the purpose of protective styling cause of the heat. . . I don't know lol

I have short natural hair, so I just twist them in finger coils when its wet.

I blow dry but without the comb attachment until 80% dry then braid. I also do co washes during the week with the braids still in. My braids are also done in a bee hive pattern to keep my ends all the way protected.

HTH :)

I think I am going to try to braid myhiar while its damp.. now I don't even know h ow to cornrow good but I will give it a shot..
I bought a wig yesterday and it looked good in the store.. I tried it on at home and i hate it...I think it is because I know its a wig and I am use to my hair..lol....
I have to figure out how to protect my ends. Meaning if I cornrow my hair back do I put oil or siliken seal on my ends and connect them? I know I am asking question that probably have been asked before..forgive me I am newbie and trying to learn the right methods lol

So i don't cornrow my hair when i'm wearing a wig/half wigh and put it in a really low bun and off i go. I only cornrow if i'm wearing a weave. As i take my half wig off each night I like to really get to my hair each night moisture and sealing tips to roots.

i braid my hair wet no cornrows, individual plaits. i loosely pull them back in ponytail with an elastic and tuck the ends under like a bun. I only blowdry my plaits if i need to go out and they are less than 80% dry. the wig cap smooshes them so theres no bulk, especially cause i'm braiding when wet. i'm retaining length pretty well i hope to be bsl or longer by june 2010. Oh and i only do full wigs.

'I do the above

I am a wig queen, lol. That's mostly what I did all last year is wig it up. I cornrow my hair in the beehive pattern while it is wet/damp. I let it airdry like that. I leave it cornrowed for a few weeks, then take it down, do a protein treatment and immediately redo the cornrows. [ ETA: Of course I am washing, moisturizing etc while it is braided.]

I *used* to cornrow my hair going straight back, and flip up the ends that would hang down. Doing this caused *major* breakage :cry3: of my nape :cry3: It was awful. My WHOLE nape broke off. So I'm trying to get the word out :orders: that it can rip your nape out to do it like I used to.

Blow dry, then get it cornrowed
