I'm going on vacation the last week of may. I've decided to get braids ( micro or just some smaller braids ) i know theyre should be in for 2-3 months.

I don't want to get them too close to the vacation because i know i'm gonna have alot of headaches the first couple of weeks. ( this happened the 1st time i got braids). But I don't want to get them too early and have them lookin shabby.

How soon before i go on vacation.

1st week of May maybe??

Are you tender headed?
They really shouldn't be so tight that they give you headaches.

I call mine mini braids because they are not quite as small as micros.
I don't mess with the micro size Because one time micros caused me some damage on one side near the front.

I suggest getting them 1.5 or 2 weeks prior to your vacation I usually do mind 1 or 2 weeks before. because I think they look a little nicer after they've had some time to relax a little.

I also suggest telling your braider how big or small you want them.
You do not have to allow them to determine the size of the braid. Especially on the edges where damage can occur.

Hope this helps.

yes im very tender headed. Any kinda of tension on my hair gives me headaches. Of course it goes away eventually but that first week will be painful and i dont wanna spend my vacation taking advil and laying down.

And you're absolutely right. The one time in the past i got my hair braided it was so stiff and bulky when i first got them ...once they started settling it looks much better.

Even mini braids are cool with me because i know micros could be iffy as far as damage goes., but i'm having ALOT of trouble finding a pic of the perfect braid size that i want. I've searched on yahoo but i wasn't finding alot that i liked.

Thanks for the responses!

I usually get mine 1 or 2 weeks before my vacation. Try not to get them too small. I hope you have a great vacation!

I agree that you should do them at least a week to a week and a half before your vacation but according to the C&G Method you shouldn't keep them in any longer than 2 months at a time.

I recall reading (may have been C&G website) that you shouldn't have micros any smaller than the diameter of a #2 pencil (not a Husky)! :lachen:

HTH!

anybody have a good pics of some different sizes?? I ran the search in yahoo images and websites but couldnt find any that i liked or were that an appropriate size :(

Maybe you should look into purchasing a braids and cornrows magazine. They usually have quite a number of styles and sizes of braids to choose from.
