I'd like to know some good rec's for moisturizing products for when I press my hair. I am concerned about it reverting. I also don't want it to be too "weighed down" or oily looking.

Please share your recommendations! :D

I heard Neutrogena Triple Moisture is really good.

However, if you're looking for something to keep your hair from reverting, then you should get CHI Silk Infusion. It's a wonderful serum and heat protectant all in one. It is weightless and will not leave your hair greasy either. It also will seal in your moisture from the moisturizer, so your hair is straight, moisturized, and won't revert.

Ooh! Ooh! Try Fantasia IC Hair Polisher Solid Ice Pomade. Woooo! It's fabulous! I've been using it since I straightened my hair and it hasn't felt dry at all. I find the best thing to do is apply a decent amount (not too much, but don't be scared to apply it) at night and braid or bun your hair overnight. Smooth and silky in the morning!
I actually don't like the smell that much (too sweet and candy-ish for me), but I happily overlook it in the name of moisturized-but-still-straight hair.

I use a tiny amount of Redken Butter Treat and then the barest trace of coconut oil. Then I put my hair up in a loose French twist. It doesn't stay bone straight like that, but I think my face is too chubby for completely straight hair anyway. The combination of twisting and Butter Treat with coconut oil gives me a few loose large waves.

Adding this to my 2007 Hair Product buying list. :user:

When I Flat Iron my hair to keep it moisturized I will use ors olive oil lotion then seal with kemi oyl, wgo or ntm triple shine serum. This works great. I also wear a satin bonnet on my head every night and am super careful not to get it wet in the shower.

Thanx for the suggestions ladies. I do like the sound of that CHI serum because it sounds like 2 products in one---which is great because I don't like to appy a lot of products to my hair.

I am trying to come up with a "pressing routine" to try to learn how to do the first press on my hair on my own. I am going to post a separate post about what I think I will do so let me know what you guys think.

But I do have a question about the CHI iron-isn't that the one that does not have temperature control?

I also heard Neutrogena Triple Moisture is really good. However I used it and my hair started to re-vert because it's kind of wet. Honestly, i would stick to a oil or a light hair polish. Hopes this helps

Yeah, the original version doesn't have a temperature control. However, the CHI Silk Infusion serum can be used with any type of flat iron. I have a Solia.

2 options that have worked for me so far;

1. Hairlox Pressing creme, it contains no petroleum, mineral oil or water. It holds your press very well and keeps your hair moist without being heavy or greasy.

2. Miss Jessies' Baby Buttercreme, same as above but very very lite, no need to add any other products in hair for up to 5 days. It holds in the moisture without reverting.

I just pressed my hair after a few weeks of straight braidouts and I used Dudley's pressing cream and Doo Gro lite oil to moisturize and Africa's Best Organics Herbal TEA TREE GRO lite hair cond. WOrks great for me!

Anybody use a pressing oil, like blue magic pressing oil or dax pressing oil? how do these work? I assumed, that these would cause my damage when applying before heat? what do you think?

I also saw in the shop a frizz buster to use before applying, anyone get any good results with any of these?

DH surprised me with a bunch of Ojon products for the holiday and the Leave In Glossing Cream looks like it might work for lightly moisturizing flat ironed hair. I'm going to iron my sister's hair sometime next week and I will use it on her. I'll let you guys know how it turns out.

I use B&B Carrot Oil Strengthener (it stopped my shedding in its tracks), and ORS Olive Oil Spray. I recommend the spray since you want something light.

KissKiss - I have used the Coconut Dax pressing Oil, and it works great for my hair!

Okay, I went out and bought this 3 days ago, and have been using it everyday on my pressed hair, especially the ends. My hair feels and looks so good, I can't believe it!! I am really surprise that it works because the first ingredient in it is WATER. Somehow, my hair is moisturized, but not reverting, and it doesn't look greasy. Thanks for the recommendation!!:up:

I use Constant Care for Ends on my ends and Healthy Hair Butter on my hairline. What's left in my hands from either, goes on the rest of my hair. No reversion.
