When a guy asks "What is your number?"

How do you respond if you don't want to give it to him? A guy I knew from college asked me this just now on FB. He just started sending me messages just asking how are you, what have you been up to, so on...He's cool but I'm not interested in talking on the phone with him, especially for romantic reasons.

You smile or :-) and say "no, thank you" and move on...if he can't accept that or challenges it because his feelings get hurt then block him.

It's funny how men don't have a problem rejecting women and saying "i'm not interested" in so many words or deliberate actions but women feel bad about it.

They don't have a problem hurting your feelings so why do you?

In his case, I would say sorry I'm not a phone person, the best way to communicate me is via Facebook.

For random guys I may meet:

No.

Or "To be quite honest, I'm not interested, so giving you my number would be a waste of both of our time."

Or "I'm involved."

These days I don't even make excuses I just blatantly tell them that I don't make a habit of handing out my number. :lachen:

It really depends on different factors (my situation, whether or not I'm interested, my mood, etc lol)

1. Why? lol
2. I'm engaged. Sorry I don't think my fiance would like that.
3. Why?
4. Sometimes, I give a fake number. lol The last 2 digits are transposed just in case they try to call me when I'm in front of them. I have an excuse.
5. No. Thanks.
6. Why?

I say that my boyfriend wouldn't appreciate that.................. whether i'm in a relationship or not

I already told him that I'm not married when he asked earlier, so I guess I'll tell him I would prefer to just talk on FB. I don't know why it's so hard for me to reject guys.

I'll admit when I read the title of this thread, I thought about Kandi and her "freak numbers" :nono: I was thinking, that ish made it to the mainstream?

I've done that several times before

i went to the store with my bff and this guy asked for her number. i was DYING because she gave it to him but she wasn't looking at him and everything about her body language was screaming NOT INTERESTED. GO AWAY PLZ.

she's like, "just because he has my number doesn't mean he'll call or text. and if he does, doesn't mean i have to answer". she says she likes to keep an open mind instead of writing a guy off right away. :ohwell:

idgi. i lie. "boyfriend".

Tell him, "I don't give out my number..." or, "I don't feel comfortable giving you my number..." or if you know for sure you're not going to see him or run into him again, give him a fake number or a number to a chick you don't like.

I give them my google voice #.

Yeah, set up a google voice number and when he calls, you can just block his number online when you see it pop up in your call log. Then you can set it to where he will get a "not in service message" when he calls again.

Lol, last week this boy from North Carolina friend requested me, we had 1 mutual friend, which is a girl whose status we both commented on. He asked me "hey do i have a man", and kept spamming my facebook messenger. He then asked for my number, I googled a local gay bar, I have yet to hear any messages from him. #Winning. Yes I am that cold. He was using some real cheesy lines too. #NotInterested

I have only been asked that by male friends or men whom I had already been interacting with as non partners.

I tell them "I don't give my number out". If he says I should take his, I tell him "I wouldn't call so there isn't any point"

never been asked that, even though I've asked other people numerous times.... I don't think most dudes want to know which is why they never ask......that might blow their high of how great they think I am lol

I just let them know that I don't give my number out and leave it at that.
Then sometimes they come back at me saying, oh here's my number text me LOL
