I don't use cones because I don't use sulfates.....simple as that. :look:
IMO I don't see the point in using non-soluble cones when u have to use a detergent to remove them. I don't think they're evil, just counterproductive.

If ever I use heat agin, I'll definetly use cones.

ITA :yep: I only use cones in the form of heat protection when flatironing and since I've given up heat I've given up cones.

although i go sulfate free, no petroleum jelly/mineral oil, lanolin, or beewax in my products.....i am indifferent about cones...they have never hindered my progress. i love the hydroquench systems cleansing condish & greaseless mositure (has dimethicone) my curls have less frizz and look more defined. i also like aveda anti-humectant pomade when my hair is flat-ironed. i do not use sulfates to remove these nor do i get buildup. i always forget what cones are water soluble as well.

I personally do not like cones in my hair products and it's not b/c of what someone wrote or the rage against cones. I realized this mostly through trial and error. When I joined the board ages ago I bought tonsssssssssss of various hair products which I think we all do for some time. I'd buy conditioners and they would work right away or not work at all. They would just sit on top of my hair or it would provide a lot of slip but when after I use the product a couple of times it would stop working.

I use cones. I don't know of any good heat protectants that don't contain cones. I clarify and chelate once a month due to hard water, anyway, so that removes any build-up.
