What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

The new salon that I buy my products for is such a high end salon. The first time I went there even before I made it inside I could tell it was expansive. The cars in the parking lot were lexuses, mercedes, infinities and so one. It seems like all their clientele are white. However, I do want to try them because they carry quality products and are very knowledgeable. They can always answer my questions, and they let me know if something is not good for my hair, rather then letting me buy it just to make a sell. They do relaxers (Probably not that often though), and they use avlon, but it's $90 for the relaxer. I can also get an avlon relaxer at the superwalmart for $39. I don't know if it would benefit my hair to go to the more pricey salon. They are obviously very experienced. I didn't see any black stylists though. The girl I spoke with about the avlon relaxer is from brazil. I don't know what to do. If anyone's paid this kind of price to get their hair done did you think it was worth it?

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I've also paid high prices for hair (i.e. $75.00 for wash/press, $80.00 perm) Anyway, I think it just depends on the sylist and their techniques. I would try Wal-mart first.

The $80.00 perm wasn't applied to my liking and she didn't roller set my hair tight enough.

Maybe you can ask the receptionist, who specializes in long hair or which stylist has the most clients with long hair. That's what I normally ask whenever I go to a new stylist.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I didn't know walmart uses Affirm I'm gonna have to call them. But paying a higher price doesn't always mean better. I use to go to this family owned salon when I was young and my parents were paying $80 to $100. My hair was looking like crap too. My parents were pissed cause he gave me a so called style and it looked like a turkey fan sitting on my head. He was also scissor happy too.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

IMO, higher price does not mean better service. Also, quality products can be purchase at discounters for 50% less than at the "fancy" salons (I got my last nexxus therapee and humectress for half price at wal-mart -- same stuff for 50% less - that's a no brainer for a thrifty person like me). As for service, don't go by what they say, but by what they DO -- have you had your hair done there? If not, then don't do the relaxer first, but have them do a wash and set, something not too drastic before going for the relaxer, especially at those prices. Also, do you know anyone who gets their hair done there to give you a review of the place? The ultimate test for me is not how expensive a place is, but how satisfied I am with my HAIR when they're done. Appearances can be deceiving . . .

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

The highest is 75 bucks at a hair salon.

I've paid 180 for individual braids before. Never again.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$80 for a t/u, trim and tip. That is a fortune in SC! But she could get me in and out of that salon in under 3 hours. It was worth every penny to me.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$65 for a full sewn in weave that i hated and took out less than a month later.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

i paid $50 to wash, cond, and flat iron my hair. i know it was too much but it was an emergency. i needed my hair done that day. so i would never pay that again, but the lady did all that in 45mins.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I get my hair done in NYC. I pay around 110 for a touch-up, rollerset and trim. And the owner of the salon is Dominican! So much for Dominican salons being cheaper, huh?

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$100 many years ago for a straw set. normally now i only pay $60 at the most including the tip.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I paid 80 for my touch up last friday- And it was a disaster

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I recently paid $95 at a Dominican salon for a touch up and color RINSE. I thought that was a bit much, especially when the Jazzing color can be purchased from Sally's for under $5.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

paid $180 for a relaxer and "designer cut" and it was a hot mess, i ended up get my hair done over later that week at another salon for only $35 and was the bomb...go figure

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I paid about $150.00 at this salon called Jovence Aveda Salon in Reston. It was WELL worth it! They used only Aveda products (except for the relaxer), and the young lady who did my hair (African-American, and probably the only black stylist there) was definatel a pro! She was able to give me the best hair cut of my life!!! And this was from scratch! I didn't even know what I wanted when I walked in the salon. She gave me a cut that best complemented my face shape and lifestyle (or how much time I wanted to spend daily on doing my hair). It was just the best. Unfortunately, I ain't got it like that financial wise, but it was a very nice treat for myself!

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

Also, I was her ONLY client from beginning to appointment to the end!!!! No trying to relax someone else while I'm under the dryer!!!! Definately a 5-star salon!

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

close to $100 (maybe $75) for the most INCREDIBLE salon experience I've EVER had. It was also an Aveda Concept Salon. Beautiful salon in Atlanta, GA Nseya's I think. LOVED IT LOVED IT LOVED IT!!! I'd pay that amount anyday for that experience

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I paid $70 for a color, blowdry, press and trim. It was so worth it because I have a lot of hair to dry. Plus she took her time and asked before cutting. I only get my hair done and trimmed about twice a year at the salon. So it was worth it!!!

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

90 bucks for a relaxer and a short halle cut about3 years ago...relaxer wasnt thats great but the cut was really good!!

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I use to pay 25$ just for a trim, but now i got to a dominican salon where i pay 30$ for wash & set, deep condition, blow dry and trim.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$65 + tip, for.....

1) regular wash, blow and curl on natural hair (she was good w/my hair, patient & understanding of texture)
2) unevenly processed texturizer on natural hair, no styling, just shake n' go (maybe she called that a style

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$80 for a touch-up but I paid for more than that. My stylist (who is close to bra strap with red highlights and DOESN'T use heat on her hair) was very professional as if she worked in an office, was polite, applied the relaxer correctly, gave me the style I exactly wanted and didn't trim too much off. She took the time to explain to me that I should trim the back (even though it touched my neck)in order for my hair to look good growing back in. And the rest of the salon kissed my butt after I got my hair done to tell me how nice my hair looked- way to keep the clientele* coming back. LOL. The salon was neat and clean and organized. Plus they had my name in their system after 5 years that I had last gone to them. Hopefully this good service will continue.

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

for a non braid style... $120 at this black owned aveda concept salon in brooklyn... I got a relaxer, a serious haircut (the best I've ever had), a scalp treatment, and a flip

for braids $185

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$120 + tip for individual braids... twice and they were beautifully done each time. Everyone in L.A. needs to check out Braids By Sabrina if you're interested in well-done & reasonably priced braids

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

I wouldn't pay $90 for a relaxer, but I would pay btwn $100 and $250 for a decent haircut or color (if I had the money that is)

Re: What\'s the most you\'ve paid for salon service

$500 for afro twists extensions (with human hair) at Tendrils in Brookyln. They lasted for about four months and were definately worth it.
