What's the best hair for phony ponies?

So, I just got my hair permed, and my hairdresser put in a black rinse and sewed/pinned in a some Milky Way yaky into a pony.

I love it but, I plan on working out a lot and want to know how to do my own pony or bun so I can wash/co-wash without worrying how my hair is gonna turn out.
I don't want to keep running to the hairdresser every week and I don't want my hair to be an excuse not to work out.

Soo, do you ladies that do the phony pony have a favorite brand of hair or other products (gels, hairsprays etc) ? I saw the Hype Hair ponys at CVS but wasn't sure if they would look fake. I don't know if I can manage re-installing this track hair. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. :)

Last summer, I Phony-Bunned most of the Summer.:yep: I picked up Several Buns (all were under $10.00) different styles and I just co-washed & either gelled or serum-ed hair straight back and applied my phony-bun.

I used Pins instead of the attached combs and it worked very well all summer long.

Thx! what kind of gel do you use? I was thinking about buying the new ORS olive Oil Pudding but maybe I'll just try using up my wrap lotion and serum first. I'm such a PJ :(
I think this will be my summer do and hopefully I'll be able to retain some length

I was using either IC Fantasia Clear Gel (the one with the Aloe Leaf on the front) or plain Aloe Vera Gel and I was also using IC Fantasia Frizz Buster Serum. It was very good especially on humid days. Plus, the style allowed me to co-wash frequently.

I liked the 'Look' of the Sleek Bun. It was a nice, fresh, clean summer look, especially with Studs or Hoops.:yep: I got alot of compliments.
