I just used my new FHI Platform Special Edition Flatiron and I am very impressed, this flat iron just glides thru my hair.
I must say I LIKE it better than my Chi. SOWRY Chi lovers :nono:
FHI

I like my Maxiglide (sorry gals) b/c it works on a lower setting for my natural 4 something hair in 1 to two passes, usually one except for "that patch" in the back of my crown (what is up with that hur right there?). I loaned it to my god mother and felt guilty taking it back, so I ordered another one and they sent out a free mini gilde ( w/ my purchase. I'm doing the "Hands Out The Hair" challenge now, so I have to wait to use it unitl May 22nd, but The original one is pretty bulky, but i like how it gets my hair so shiny:pant:

What flatiron do YOU rep?

Which model is it?
Why do you love it?
Are you relaxed, natural or texlaxed?

Herstyler 1" Tourmaline Ceramic Pink ($149.00)

Because I pass through my hair once and it is silky smooth without a burned smell! I get that swang, and I do my Thangy Thang :lick:

Relaxed

and also, where are you guys buying your flat irons.?..i wanna make sure i have a warranty to back me up

Yes...seconding this one. I saw that some irons purchased online are not warrantied. I have to get a new flat iron and ceramic curler when we return to the US, and I want to get the right one from the right dealer.

Thanks guys!

I found out ulta sells fhi platform, for like $170-ish, with a six-month warranty, and fhi carries a 2 yr warranty, or so the salesgirl told me...ouch! The banner _Folica?_ above sells it for about $120, but i've heard there's no warranty.

What gives, ladies? well, i bought a gvp today, hopefully i'll try it this weekend and i'll let you guys know...i'm used to silky straight brand new bone-straight relaxer-look, so if i can achieve this, i'm good to go...ofcourse, i don't know if i can duplicate my dominisalon's technique... ;(

correction - folica sells fhi platform for $195.... oopsi

bumping! my mom wants to buy me a pink CHI for my bday in a few days, but i don't want her to get it if its a piece of crap. i'm transitioning to natural. the CHI is only gonna be a temp iron until i get my GHD, so if there is a cheaper alternative that works just as well as the CHI, please let me know.

Wonderful thread. I am now debating between a FHI, Sedu, Solia...

If it helps any, I used to use my Maxiglide until months to a year down the line my hair was so thin it began shedding to the point where I had to take a year from heat to regrow my hair. I still use it to straighten weaves though... the steam is excellent.

Disclaimer on my comment: I was not using proper pressing procedures 100% of the time of using the Maxiglide, you know, the right products, leave in's, shampooing & deep conditioning properly before every use, etc.
