What is Chelating Per Se?

A shampoo that's similar to clarifying.

A clarifying shampoo will clean the buildup on the outside surface of your strands, whereas a chelating shampoo will clean from the inside and get rid of minerals and deposits from hard water.

Ive been meaning to purchase a good chelating shampoo, since I use no-lye relaxers and have heard that this sometimes causes calcium build-up. Plus, I live in NYC and the water is hella hard!!!

Does the bottle actually read Chelating Shampoo?

I have some of this from the product swap at the Bmore M&G..
Im gonna try it next wash :)

I love it. I realized it was helping after I stopped using it and starting using Keracare 1st Lather. After 3 weeks, my hair was so dry and hard!!! I found out that the 1st Lather is not chelating. :perplexed

Also, I was reading the back of the Aphogee 2 min reconstructor and it removes calcium deposits. It must be chelating, as well.

I have been using Paul Mitchell Shampoo 3. It "removes chlorine, minerals, and other impurities."

Redken Cleansing Cream; been using it for at least 3 years (if not more) and I love it!!! :D

I use this as well. Removes everything from your hair. But for a more gentle clarification, I use Mizani Phormula 7. This is some great stuff:woot:

I guess my question is, is this good to use before a regular shampoo or to use it alone?:look:

Elucence is a good clarifying and chelating shampoo that does not leave the hair feeling stripped .

Definitely! This is the first clarifier I have ever used that didn't leave my hair in a tight mass of tangles.

I use the Elucence Clarifying shampoo too. I dont usually follow it up with a moisturizing shampoo because it does not leave my hair feeling stripped.
