I see quite a few ladies are on the Aveda BDWN. I tried the color conserve line a few years ago and thought it was drying. So why do you like Aveda?? I don't get it.

I'm off the bandwagon; Aveda is a staple. :yep: For me, it works reliably and consistently. I can always count on Aveda to stop (protein or dryness-related) breakage. :yep:

ETA: Only use DR and the moisture creme (the name escapes me).

What's the DR for?

The only reason I ask why Aveda is so good is because there is a salon right by my job that sells the whole hair care line. I'm looking to try another line but that whole color conserve debauchery has me wondering what the hype is all about.

I agree with Sareca, it is the one line that has been worked consistently for me. I would also add that I believe my hair's health has become much better with the continued use of DR.

Sareca - the moisturizing cream is the Universal Styling Creme.

I am twenty-two, and I have honestly been using AVEDA since high school (wayyyyy before my intro to LHCF). I used the color shampoos, because they seemed to make my color "pop" with continued usage. Then, mkstar826 suggested the Deep Revitalizing Hair Treatment for natural hair, and I loved it. Detangling was a breeze, my hair was moist, AND I loved the smell. Once I decided to relax, I hated the treatment. The color shampoos are still wonderful though. I think that if you do want to buy higher end products that are effective, then AVEDA is the way to go.

I just purchased two Joico liters of Moisture Recovery for $30.00 and a three pack of Pantene's R & N Breakage Mask. Those are the only reasons that I have not tried the AVEDA Smooth Infusion/Damage Remedy for my previous paycheck's splurge.

Aveda Damage Remedy! It is a great line-just the right combo of moisture & protein :yep:
It's a staple for me too :)

A year ago my hair was breaking really bad from me not properly taking care of it. I experimented with many products and nothing stopped my breakage until I started using Aveda. It is the only products I use on my hair now.

I am not an Aveda pro because I have only tried a few of the products. I LOVE the Universal Styling creme from the Brilliant line. It works well for moisture and really makes my hair feel soft. I have never used anything like it.

I also LOVE the Black Malva conditioner for color enhancement. I have to use a moisturizing conditioner after this, but my black hair was BLINGING after deep conditioning with the Black Malva conditioner. I did not like the shampoo from that line and returned it.

These are not bandwagons for me. I love both of these products and they are staples in my collection.

I am pretty new to aveda to but I really enjoy the damage remedy line. The shampoo is one of my staples. I think that there products are consistent and they smell great. I think that it just takes a little experimenting to find what you like but once you do, there is no going back. I don't know what I would do with my dr shampoo.

it's not a bandwagon for me...i've been using their stuff for a while now. i like aveda because their products work consistently with the above average results for me. when i use aveda i can see and feel the difference in my hair. since i switched to using mainly aveda products, my hair is a lot healthier, stronger, and retains moisture a lot better. i also love how their products smell...very earthy and natural.

I like Aveda because it is natural and not tested on animals. I never had a bad experience with any of their products!!!

I love the emollient gloss stuff. It really helps my leave in. I don't have to use a lot either, I get good results always.

I'm still trying to get the moisturizing cream to work for me, it probably isn't working so well since I'm almost 8 weeks post relaxer and I usually don't stretch for this long.

I just started using Aveda Friday so I really cant give that great of a review but my hair was noticeable different from any other washes. I loved the slip I got from the DR conditioner. It was amazing. I am hoping this product works well w/ my hair even though it is expensive. I havent used the shampoo because a lot of shampoos dry my hair out so I stick w/ CON or Keracare which ever one I have available. I am looking forward to tryin the color enhancement and universal styling creme.

I am 8 weeks post right now and it works great for me. But, the USC is not for my NG moisture. It is more like for my ends and for shine - basically for touchup moisture. My NG gets its moisture from deep conditioning and leave-in. Honestly, I don't see the USC being good for base moisture at all. I really think it is appropriately named - a styling creme is really what it is for me.

For example, I was getting ready to go out last night and my hair was looking a little flat and dull. I put some USC on my ends and length of my strands (I never touch my NG with it) and some satin covered foam rollers and after about and hour my hair was good to go - shiny and soft.

I love the Aveda DR line and also the smoothing line.. It smells so wonderful...my hair is also becoming thicker and healthier because of the products.

I've been using the Aveda DR line since November 06. Although I've been rotating my other hair care product lines, I really do like the Aveda DR line. I also use Aveda Hang Straight Straightening Lotion and Aveda Light Elements Smoothing Fluid. These products work well on my hair, and a little definitely goes a long way. :)

I started using AVEDA Anti-Humectant Pomade in 2003 and have never been without it since. I just love it. My stylist would flat iron my hair and then put a dime sized amount over the finished style and I just loved it and had to have it.

I also used the AVEDA Phommolient for a while to wrapp my hair at night when I had an inverted bobb prior to starting my haircare journey.

I always keep a bottle of the AVEDA Detox Shampoo in my stash. It is very effective and thorough. I do not use this that often but I like to have it on hand.

The AVEDA Brilliant Serum w/rice bran oil is like the best serum ever ! It is pricey but it is good.

Damage Remedy line does just what it says it is going to do. It is a great product but my Straight Arrow Mane-N-Tail products basically work in the smae manner as the AVEDA Damage Remedy line.

Do you use both the shampoo and the conditioner in the smoothing line. I want to try this soon.

I've been using Aveda products since 1996. I've tried other products in the meantime but I can always trust that the Aveda products will give me the results I'm expecting...not to say that all of their products have worked for me but I have found satisfaction with the following.

Phomollient Styling Foam
Anti-humectant Pomade
Emollient Finishing Gloss
Cherry Almond Bark Conditioner
Black Malva Shampoo
Deep Penetrating Hair Revitalizer Conditioner
Damage Remedy Intensive Restructuring Conditioner
Damage Remedy Restructuring Conditioner
Damage Remedy Restructuring Shampoo
Sap Moss Shampoo
Sap Moss Nourshing Concentrate
Universal Styling Creme
Elixir Leave-In (discontinued)

I wouldn't say that the color conserve line is necessarily made for moisturizing, especially to a black woman's hair. I guess you just need to find the right Aveda product for your hair's needs.

I will be the minority on this one...I used the DR line and it did absolutley nothing for my hair. It felt a little dry afterwards. I have the Sap Moss scalp treament stuff and it works just ok...I can't really rave about it.

I have the sapp moss shampoo, Deep penetrating hair revitalizer, the brilliant conditioner, DR and shampure shampoo and conditioner. Before using these products I had a terrible time detangling and I always would get knots on my ends and wind up cutting them out. Since using Aveda consistently, detangling is a breeze and I don't get near as many knots on my ends anymore. My hair is a whole lot healthier and thicker. I can really tell a difference in my hair. Aveda is a staple for me too.

I use the following products:

Sap Moss Nourishing Concentrate
Detoxifying Shampoo
Damage Remedy Shampo, Conditioner & Treatment.

I was an avid KeraCare fan but I felt like my hair got accustomed to it and stopped benefiting from it. I introduced the entire Aveda line and I have a brand new head of hair. I no longer need hard protein treatments because the DR line takes care of my moisturizing needs. Aveda, in combination with ULI Leave-In, has people gushing even more over my hair. I have strong, but moisturized hair and I have never had both before.

I can't wait to try those. :yep:
