I was wondering because Im having a hard time geting my hair to curl. Some of it will curl but then again it could be scab hair or some 4b hair. My moms curls are the same size as mine but her hair is well defined. I dont know what to do..

Lillian, if it's scab hair I think the only thing you can do is wait until it stops growing out. I believe scab is hair thats been affected negatively by the relaxer chemicals. Give it time, be patient and dont be hard on yourself. On the other hand if your texture just doesn't curl up like you like, it's not necessarily a bad thing. I'm confident that you'll learn to accept and eventually appreciate your natural, *beautiful* texture though.

are you doing all the same things your mom is doing? same products? etc. maybe its just a matter of stumbling across the product that your hair likes....like what just happened to me after almost eleven years. give it time and keep experimenting...if you dont get the curl defintion your looking for or like your mom , work your hair and love your hair just like it is. it might be scab hair if you just stopped relaxing though. keep your head up , all natural's have to go through coming to terms with what their hair will and wont do and accepting it.

I believe scab hair to be a myth.

It could be that not all of the perm was cut off, or due to dryness... or those parts of your hair have no natural curl definition.

WOW I didnt think anyone was going to answer me.

Irresistible, I did find a product that made most of my curls show up. I just dont get why there would be some curls and fizzy hair.

Cherish, I think you maybe right about some parts of my hair not having any definition. And I do still have some relaxed hair.

Im just going to grow it out some more and see what happens next.
