Hello,

I am in need of some serious help!! I am ready to shave my head bald!! Currently using Kenra Moist Poo, DC with Kenra Moist Cond or Keracare Humecto Cond. 1x a week, then I moisturize 2x a day with Elasta QP mango butter and seal with EVOO(my hair still seems dry!). Well, I just noticed some breakage behind the ear!! I haven't been using any heat except to DC, but prior to that I was flat ironing 1x a week. What is up! I also read the thread on lack of protein or moisture but I'm still not which one my hair is lacking!! My hair is almost chin length and I'm trying not to cut it but not sure if I can get it healthy let a long...longer!!! I just joined LHCF a month ago. (FYI: I did change my login name from Monica N***)

Hi Monica

From what you have posted, I think you need to clarify and use a protein treatment.

The kenra poo is very mild and your conditioners are decent. However, your protein is lacking. If you hair doesn't have enough protein it won't hold any moisture you give it. The elasta mango butter for some people causes buildup too. It has some strengthening properties but they don't replace a good ol protein deep conditioner. Anytime you are moisturizing everyday and still having dryness issues, something else is going on and you are just masking the core issues. Good luck

Porosity? Perhaps your hair can't retain that mositure because the cuticle is not being sealed?

You should give your current routine sometime to have some affect on your hair (a month or so). Also you might want to add a light protein treatment, since it seems like you have heavily favoring moisture.

Maybe you need to try a different moisturizer. What works for some people may not work for others, you might have to experiment with different ones.

IA w/Gym & the Others. Start over with a nice Clean Slate. Use a good Clarifying Shampoo to thoroughly cleanse your hair and remove any buildup the products you've using may have left.

Introduce a Good Strong Protein Treatment and then Follow Up with a Moisturizing Conditioner.

You also may want to check the Porosity and perhaps invest in some PC if your hair is overly dry and porous.:yep:

I agree with what's been posted. How are you styling your hair? Do you wear a lot of buns or ponytails?

I agree w/Dachsies, you may want to try a new moisturizer. When I used EQP Mango Butter, it was only to lay my edges down, never as a moisturizer. I just don't think it works very well for that.

Definitely clarify and use a different moisturizer EQP Mango Butter was garbage for me as a moisturizer, but it was okay to seal with. Good luck!
