... you as the girl with long hair???? I just had that experience this week. I was shocked because I don't think my hair is long. But a friend of mine said if I got lost she'd have a hard time describing me. She said she could only describe me as the "short, dark brown, girl with long hair"; and I was like huh? lol! I mean I get the short dark brown part, but it totally threw me off to be identified as long haired. Anyone else have a similar experience or maybe even the reverse?

I wasn't phased by it. I knew in my eyes, my hair wasn't long. I heard people say that so many times but I just disregarded them.

The last time I wore my hair straight (siggy pic)....people kept saying that my hair was "long" Im barely approaching APL so I didnt feel that way....but I did appreciate the compliment. I will feel like my hair will be "long" when I reach BSL.

I guess I'm the same way. I'm APL and I guess when I see women my height and taller with BSL, MBL, etc, I'm like that's long hair. I only the other hand think I have med. length hair. I often think of it as barely past SL. I guess it's long relative to the person who's saying it. The crack up thing is that this girl (my friend) has really nice hair that is only 2-3 inches shorter than mine. Her hair is BEAUTIFUL!

Heehee, this is my height and how i say it too :yep:

Your hair IS long and pretty :drunk:

Thanks! I guess I gotta get with the program and recognize my hair is a bit longer now. Not long-long, but maybe at the short end of the long spectrum. lol!

Thank you... I claim 5'2, but I'm really 5'1 and a 1/2 LOL!
I thought I was the only woman that embellished on height! I'm 5'1" and 3/4 but claim 5'2":lachen:.

I can't wait to be described as the one with long hair. In college I was the short, dark AKA that wore the loud lipstick.

I get this too!! I'm described as the "light skinned one with the long hair" (and I don't think I'm light skinned or my hair is long). I'm APL. I won't think I have long hair, either. I'll probably think it's long when it gets to BSL (but it's bra-strap if I lean way back... )

Exact same scenario for me except add that Im short blah blah blah.
I think I first heard it when I was a freshman in college, I didnt know jack about hair and it was very damaged but thick with length. People were always referring to it as long and telling me I should style it. I dont know what happened in my last year of hs and I hadnt noticed my hair growing because I kept it in ponytails mostly.

Girl, I thought I was the only one who does that! I do it every so often in the mirror to "see" what I'll look like with BSL hair!

I first heard about it at work from a male coworker. I felt it was medium length, but a close friend of mine said the following: "Compared to other African American females, it is long." Back then my hair was shoulder length. Now it's just about waist length; now that's what I call long.

This just happened to me at work yesterday...

I was dumb enough to let a co-worker touch my hair (she asked first) and then she proceeded to stretch out the few strands she grabbed and then went "OMG! I didn't know your hair was so long!" I was like  My hair really isn't long-only my "tail" is APL and, to me, that's normal/medium length hair.

Of course I was flattered. "Who, me?" was my initial reaction. To me, I don't have long hair. It's about APL, but I don't consider that long. It's more like mid-length. I guess my eyes are spoiled and are accustomed to looking at locks that graze BSL or longer! It's nice to hear though .

FAMUDiva- Your hair is long and pretty.

To answer your post, I'm shocked when I hear a stranger refer to my hair as long. :perplexed

That is CERTAINLY what I call long! Great job!
