I use the walmart spring valley Biotin,For skin, hair and nails and their MSM
all three from spring valley brand or natures valley whatever the name is it is sold at Walmart and they seem to do my hair NO justice. It's like I'm better off not using it and wasting my money.

So what brand/store do you buy your EFFECTIVE vitamins from? I might just go to gnc because i really need vitamins not just for my hair either =(

Why not try Vitamin Shoppe on Rt 59? Its just past the corner of Middletown Road and Rt. 59.

I was taking the VS MSM. They offer a variety of hair, nail and skin vitamins. Not all brands are equal. Do some research to see which ones you like.

I take
Nature's Made iron because im anemic.
Nature's made Vitamin D ( for health reasons)
Puritans Pride Biotin 7500mg
Nature's Bounty Garlic for shedding
And some Whole foods chewable Vitamin c because it helps the iron absorb better.
All of them are effective on me. Some brands of vitamins are more effective than others. so switch around brands to see if that helps

Nioxin Recharging Complex. Bought them on Amazon.com.

+1

These are my favorite vitamins and I buy them from amazon.com also. They not only help tremendously with hair growth and reducing shedding (from my personal experience), they make my skin nice and smooth.

yea when i go back for my aloe vera juice i will take their vitamins

so does this nioxin pill REALLY help with hairgrowth whats teh buzzz have u witnessed severe growth. lol im thinking theres a big difference between NIACIN and nioxin because the walmart vitamins i take had NIACIN in it i didnt see a difference in hair skin or energy lol

multi-vitamins& minerals
hair, skin and nails
enzymes
calcium extract
^^^ from www.dherbs.com
opti-msm powder (1-2 tsp a day) from www.msm-msm.com
flax seed oil ( 1-2 tbsp daily) i use the vitamin shoppe brand ( which is actually produced from them by barleans) in the future i plan on trying hemp seed or black seed oil

i am a believer in getting nutrients from food/herbs instead of synthetic sources as you body absorbs and processes them better, i'll be adding the vitamin c formula from dherbs soon as well.

I take Woman's 1 a Day Vitamins because it has some stuff I need. I also take 2 vitamin D pills because my body is not absorbing enough from the sun (doc's orders), and hopefully in the near future I'll be taking folic acid supplements. Everything else I need I get the old fashioned way, eating good stuff. :)

SMH...due to my condition (genetic anemia, not simple Iron-deficiency anemia that can be remedied by taking ferrous sulfate (iron), I have a whole heap of stuff I take and still adding more each month depending on what I think my body needs. On average I have 18 diff supplements I take. Half in morning, half after dinner. I sometimes slack off and only take the most important ones IMO. But (sigh) here it is:

*Max Amino Acids by Country Life (CL) (1 or 2/day)
*L-Arginine by CL (1)
*L-Methionine by CL (1)
*Chlorella by Kyoto (of Swanson Health) (3)
*Calcium-Magnesium-Zinc by Thompson Health (1-2)
*Advan-C (vit C w. citrus bioflavonoids) by NSI/VitaCost (1)
*Deep Sea Alaskan Fish Oil with EPA/DHA/Evening Primrose Oil, 1000mg (1)
*Vitamin D w. 400 I.U. of Vit. A (1)
*Rite Aid HSN vit (1 alternating on days with other hair, skin, nail vits)
*Nioxin Recharging Complex (1 alt).
*Natrol HSN Vit (1 alt).
*L. Acidophilus Chewables (1-2/day)
*Fenugreek Seed capsule (1)
*Milk Thistle capsule (1)--for liver support/antioxidants
*Folic Acid 800 mcg (1)
*Sea Kelp (1) --iodine
*Ginseng tablet (1 on occasion for energy boost)
*MSM w. Manganese--1,000 mg (1)
*Diatomaceous Earth--1 heaping tsp mixed into juice in a.m.
*Natural Bee Pollen--500 mg (1)
*B-50 Complex (1)
*Lipton De-Caff. Green Tea w. Citrus (1 cup w. 3 tsp pure cane sugar, drank some mornings, steeped til strong).
*Lipton Black Pearl Tea (Black Tea) (1 cup w. 3 tsp pure cane sugar, drank when I need a boost).

--and more to be added soon...I need to get me a bullet blender to dump some of these vits into a smoothie so I don't have to take so many horse pills! I included the teas because I consider them used for antioxidants and health benefits...they go into the category of diet supplementation just like the pills. :yep:

VitaCost or Ebay gets an order from me just about every month, geesh.

Have you ladies heard of Moringa? It is a very healthy supplement to take, origin is from the moringa oleifira tree of the Phillipines but is grown in USA also. Has many of the nutrients we take daily all in one supplement, in high concentrations.

WHO (World Health Organization) says it believes Moringa may be answer to widespread famine and hunger/malnutrition. Check it out. I'll be ordering some soon. Benefits outweigh any fathomable risk. All natural!! It is not too expensive (I've seen glucosamine/chondroitin cost more), and just make sure you get it from a reputable site or seller. Ebay has lots of it and also just Google to find more info!! HTH :yep:

@southerncitygirl

Hey thanks there! :yep: Ladies, I know some of yall are SYH (shaking yall heads) at the sheer list of vits/supps I take... I know I take a helluva lot of stuff but I also try to eat right and drink about 2 liters or more of water per day. My body is already competing with a lot due to low blood counts so I try to increase my energy, immunity, and strength with these things. They seem to work! I definitely feel better than before I put together a holistic regimen.

you don't have to take that much stuff though as i know of companies that make products that would be 2,3 or 4 in one for you. it could optentially cut your list by 1/3 to 1/2

I have been increasingly healthy and less prone to infection, esp. since I added the Vit. D and my baby was born completely healthy despite my condition (she's 3 now) thanks to God and great folic acid supplementation! :drunk:

PinkGirlFluff

Loving that signature!! I love that fierceness you have going on there! Natural hair is da bomb!! And the calico pattern of your highlights is very intriguing and pretty!

I'm definitely interested. One reason I'll be switching to a whole food multivitamin is to cut out a lot of this redundancy and reduce what I have to take. PM or post here if you like! Thanks so much!

I have been taking Nioxin for almost 30 days once a day. Have like two left from my 30 day bottle. I must say something has changed in my hair. I don't know if it just would have been this way normally had I not started taking them but it seems to have grown and seems heavier or should I say thicker. At the same time I started with the Nioxin I also switched to Alterna Caviar Moisture shampoo and conditioner which I have also fell absolutely in love with so not sure which one has turned my hair around but I am happy with both so I wont be changing anything up because I am not sure which one is making my hair happy!

• One-A-Day Women's Multivitamin - for general health, purchased at CVS
• NOW Super Odorless Garlic - shedding, purchased on amazon
• Nioxin Intensive Therapy Recharging Complex - purchased on amazon
• Nature Made Super B-Complex - for general health and energy, purchased from my local market

I take SlowFe iron tablets since I'm anemic and I just started taking Hairfinity which has Biotin, MSM and Vitamins A, C and all the B-Vitamins.

:hug3:....Wow,yo....you never know what others are really going through. You are in my prayers...stay well as possible.:yep:

I used to take the One A Day Women's...but since it caused an acid issue in my tummy i stopped taking them. I'm on the lookout for vites for sensitive stomachs...i'm iffy about the children's vitamins...will they supply enough nutrients??

I also take Fish Oil.

For those of you who take iron for anemia, you might want to consider taking Floradix + herbs. Its a liquid which is non-constipating. I had GREAT success with this product and would readily suggest it to others.

I recently started taking a multi-vitamin.
I notice that my nails grow faster but haven't really noticed much with the hair.
I got mine from Holland and Barrett which is a well known health store in the UK. I don't like the fact that it has salt and sugar in them; does anyone elses multi-vitamins contain salt and sugar?
