I have a John McArthur study bible. It is the bomb!!! Explains almost every scripture!

I have an NIV Learning Study Bible that I ordered from www.crossings.com (as a part of my membership I get like 5 books free-the only catch is you have to buy 4 books in the next 2 years). It is really good.

I have the King James Version. Love it. My mother is very cool, she does a lot of research into the Bible and teachings on Christianity, and we have a bunch of books that help in understanding the Bible even more, like Strong's Exhaustive Concordance on the Bible, which has well over 1000 pages in it.

I have the KJV

A Living translation for comparison study that reads like plain English for easy understanding

The Bible also in plain English on CD (about 70 disks!) with excellent narration, sound effects and everything.

I have NKJV Life Application Bible (This is my study bible), A KJV, and A Spanish/English Bible.

But on my PDA. I have A spanish bible SRV and a NKJV Bible. I too have books that help with the greek/hebrew translation..etc..and concordances.

I read from....
King James Version - Life Application Study Bible (great commentary)
New International Version - The Student Bible (easy to understand)
New American Standard version bible (don't read from often)

I stumbled across two articles that say anything other than the King James is distorted. I'll post them, I want to know what you all think.

I have an NIV Study Bible that I LOVE. It breaks down almost every verse and gives historical context, all the good stuff...LOTS of detail.

Parallel Bible - King James & NIV (side by side on each page) Love it. :)

My pastor has a Parallel Bible that I absolutely love. It has KJV/NIV/NKJV/NLT. I may save up and make it a Christmas present to myself this year, because it's a lil' on the pricey side.

I have:

The Spirit Filled Life Bible--New King James Version
Life Application Study Bible--New Living Translation
The Open Bible--New Living Translation
New Living Translation Holy Bible

My dad believes it is distorted too. It has something to do with translation. He learned in the seminary that it was poorly translated. His professors recommended the New American Standard version or NIV to the students which are better translations.

NIV. It is easier to understand. When I was younger I was given King James(I think thats the one) version that was hard to understand.:)

Yeah, I think I spent $45 for it about 3 years ago. But it is like buying two Bibles in one. I love mines. I rotate from each version and it really has helped my understand of the word better. :)

I use a NIV and King James Version. My personal bible is really small (small print) so since my dad passed last Oct. I've been using his. It makes me feel closer to his spirit and he has a lot highlighted. :)

I have about three King James Bibles and a New International Bible. When I memorize scripture though, it's always from the King James Version.

I think that may be inaccurate. I can say that the NIV (New International Version) and the NLT (New Living Translation) were both translated from the Hebrew/Greek text (the original bible text) just as the King James Version. The Living Bible is a paraphrased version. Be sure to refer to your bible's preface/intro to determine how the particular bible version came about.

I have 2

1. Cambridge Daily Reading Bible
2. Holy Bible published by Collins

I believe the Cambridge Daily Reading Bible is a NRSV (New Revised Standard Version). Is that right?

What type don't I have?

I have:

3 - (1) King James (Scholfield)
- NIV (Quest Study Body)
NIV (Zondervan)
- Contemporary English (In Step Student Bible)
- The Living New Testament ( Soul Food)
- Todays English Version (Good News Bible)
1 - Amplified Bible

I think that's it.

I have at least 8 bibles, a lot of versions. My favorite is the living bible maybe that's not the name but it has removed all of the thee's and thou's. But now I am interested in the Hebrew translation bible.
