hi everyone this summer i've decided to have braids so it will get even healthier and i won't really have to deal with it.... what kind of moisturizers do you use and what were your results?

My sister just put me on to Biolage Leave In Tonic. It's pricey but I really like this stuff!

I use Better Braids Braid spray to to control itch and flaking and Profectiv Roothealth is also great for moisturzing braids.

I'm getting good results from Grandma's Secret Recipe Braid & Extension spray. Just purchased my third bottle.

Check out the thread on the "braid challenge" or something like that. It consists of using S Curl no drip moisturizer or world of curls activator as a daily moisturizer and oiling your scalp. I tried the S curl no drip moisturizer and I love it! You can feel when you hair is thriving and this regimine is just what my braids needed!

I use Surge and Protectiv Root Health for my new growth and Worlds of Curls activator on my braids (while they are damp). I hate braid sprays they always leave a sticky build up on my hair.

Sulfur 8 braid spray is really good to keep your scalp from getting dandruff. Plus Sulfur grows hair.

Ditto...I think braid sprays are a gimmick...let's face it, women were rocking braids long before sprays were around!

I saw this in the BSS a couple days ago. I thought about buying it for my hair when I take my braids out. Do you like it? Is it moisturizing?

I liked African Royal BRX Spray. Here's a recipe from the book Healthy Black Hair. She says commercial braid sprays leave build up. I never tried it, but it sounds good--

¾ cup of water
¼ cup of natural oil (jojoba, almond, olive, avocado, etc.)
20-25 drops of your favorite essential oil (lavender, tea tree, peppermint, ylang ylang, etc.)

Store in a spray bottle. Shake well before using.

I use BRX braid spray regularly on my daughter's hair and I never get build up. A matter of fact when I take the braids out of her hair....her hair is super soft and managable with NO build up. I saturate her hair with it before bed 3 times a week. I wash her braids every 2 weeks. I follow the C&G technique and her hair is healthy and long.

I have always used African Royale BRX spray as well and my hair always feels soft (even the new growth) when I take the braids out. Last time I wore braids I didn't use it because I thought that it may cause braid slippage, and I lived to regret it after I lost lots of hair taking the braids out (way more than usual).

I'm getting cornrows on Sunday, and with the combined raves from the ladies on this board, and my friend (who has hair past bra-strap), I bought Sta-Sof-Fro to moisturize my braids with. I'll let you ladies know how it goes, if you want.

I've started using Sta soft fro to moisture my braids I like it, but the smell is a little strong I feel self-conscious around my white co-workers, so I only spray it at night.

Luster No Drip S-Curl moisturizer does a great job on my braids and my scalp. It comes in a blue and white bottle and has no scent, which I like since braid sprays usually smell horrible to me. I highly recommend it.

The last time I wore braids I used Sulfer 8 medicated braid spray

It is very moisturizing and it helped keep the scalp from drying out.
