What to do with my wet hair?

Okay, I know that there are many posts that deal with washing techniques for pre-wash, during wash, and post-wash. But either I'm really lazy /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif or I just can't seem to put it all together after reading tons of posts from one day to the next (WOW this board really is addicting!). Maybe I should start taking notes as I'm reading /images/graemlins/think.gif.

Well, I pretty much got a nice hair routine going, but what are some things you all do once you do that final rinse out of your shampoo and/or conditioner? For example, do you apply leave-in conditioner, serums, oils? Do you ponytail dry, hang dry, sit under hooded dryer, blow-dry (i know. a technical no-no)?

I just need some kind of tips for my hair. Because, when its all washed up and conditioned up, I'm feeling good about it /images/graemlins/up.gif, but then I look at the wet hair as a chore that i dont feel like dealing with /images/graemlins/down.gif. Here's some info about my hair:

I think its 3c-4a.
Its 1-2 inches past shoulder.
I am combating shedding hair (not breakage).
I have a relaxer.
It tends to frizz up when i comb through it after hang drying.
I don't seem to have as much shedding when I blow-dry

So, any helpful hints?

i wouldnt get caught up with all the things that certain people do to their hair on this forum. When I first joined, I was amazed at all the stuff that everyone did to their hair and all the products they would put in their hair. before joining the forum, all i used was shampoo, relaxer, and grease. I started using more products when I joined this forum but now im cutting back down. I felt like washing my hair more and using more products was causing my hair to have more breakage. My hair grew fast when I didnt use all the products and only washed my hair every 4-6 weeks (whenever I had a relaxer!). so i think its about how you care for your hair and the less manipulation you do to your hair the better. Right now I use wash my hair every 2 weeks, now I relax every 3 months (extend relaxer challenge), do a protein or conditioner treatment whenever i feel like it (1-2X monthly), use Creme of Nature shampoo, Elasta QP moisturizer, and occasionally use my WildGrowthOil and mixture of oils.

To answer your question, when my hair is wet and I dont feel like doing nothing to it such as a rollerset, I just let it airdry and gently comb through it occasionally. I sometimes spray my leave-in when I think about it (either Surge Plus 14 or Pantene light spray) and apply my moisturizer. make sure u do not rake through it, comb in sections to avoid pulling out a lotta hair. I used to blowdry it straight a couple of months ago, but now Im doing the no heat challenge.

Hope that helps! /images/graemlins/kiss.gif

I put in leave-in, hair polish, surge 14 and oil. Then I do 8 flat twists for a twist out. You can try braid outs too.

After my final rinse I apply oils (b&b oil it up) to my hair, then I'll either apply a leave in or use some design foam (elasta qp) and wrap or rollerset (then wrap) my hair. I sit under the hood dryer. It takes about 30-40 minutes for my hair to dry.

Okay, well another quick question. Ladies that wrap while wet, what exactly is a technique you've used and have seen works? Becuase after I get a fresh relaxer, I can wrap up my hair with some leave-in in a cinch with great ease. But any time after that, I cant seem to make it work for me. My hair feels wet and heavy, and almost stuck in that hang-straight-down-on-my-head-dont-wanna-do-anything-else position /images/graemlins/nono.gif. Anyone else have this problem?

I need tips on how I can wrap wet hair without have 'bends' in my dried hair in the morning. Hope I am explaining this in an understandable way.

I wonder this too except I don't have a hard time getting my hair wrapped up. Maybe because it's fine textured and I make sure my hair is really wet (I saturated it with my leave-in) before wrapping it. Wrapping wet hair is very convenient because it doesn't take up a lot of time for me.

I just wet wrapped my hair. In order to avoid the bends, I put one large roller at the top of my head and I made sure to tie my scarf below the hair line, thereby avoiding the bend where the scarf presses into my head. I hope that this helps!!!
