"Honestly, Truly"
I did NOT enjoy my twist session yesterday, my hair is always done by two ladies, the main woman, and her sister, the main woman is fine, her sister on the other hand, can you say OUCH! I told her not to get try and rip through my hair with a FINE tooth comb and that if she insists on combing each section (for what I don't know, I already detangled when washing) then please do it with a little frigging care!

Then I told her "watch my hairline, I don't want it too tight" well it still felt tight!
I mean, it doesn't feeling particularly painful to touch, but it LOOKS tight!

Remove it! I got my hair twisted last june and it was tight. when I remove it my hair line had thin out considerably. Also, the relaxed section of my hair was gone so I had to cut off 6 inches. I was not upset since I had planned to cut it off anyway since I had 8 inches of texturized hair. I would not let anyone ever braid or twist my hair if they do the first one tight it pulls your hair root out it eventually would not grow back as it was before

Thanks for replying! I'm sorry about your experience.

I'm going to take the entire hair line out and let my mum re-do it.

i agree with tamika. i got my hair braided last year, and they were so tight that i could literally see the hair in the front being pulled out by the root. i went back to the shop and had them re-do the front in larger braids. but the damage was still done. it took about 10 months for my hairline to finally go back to normal. :(

I'm so sorry to here this. If your mum can do twists then do let her re do the front. You do not want to have a receding hairline and suffer the pain!!!

Plus where was she going with a FINE TOOTH COMB?????? Purleeeez!!!!!

the lady that did my hair on wednesday didnt braid super tight but you could hear her just ripping through my hair with her co,b....i a, not tenderheaded at all but ,an i was holdin in it this time! it doesnt feel tight or look tight, but i think the lady that did my hair was kinda rough on me and if i do go back to her; i will not get this style...i will get something simple like cornrows cuz this was the first time she did tree braids..

i'd take the front down and try to get it done over...i have a friend who's hair is very fragile in the front and cornrows too tight makes her hair pop off (u can see the front of the cornrow sticking up) i dont fool with braid/twist extensions cuz i cant stand the pain lol

OK, my mum's had a look, and it has loosened up since I used the braid spray, so she told me to ask how it feels tomorrow.

Thanks for the advice ladies, just hope it's not too late.

I would place a hot towel over my head or steam my hair line otherwise take it down.

What's wrong with those braiders? That's why I learned to braid my hair.

I am glad you're taking it out. This braids were a recipe for traction alopecia.

Gurl, I'd loose it out.... check your hairline to see if you see any hairs broken off with white plugs! Char, this will be a sign of disaster. Since I just completed my own braids, I'm happy to say that I was able to sleep on them the first night quite comfortably. Also, there is no pulling along my hairline. Keep your eye on it and respond accordingly.

I've just taken three down in different areas of the hair line, and thankfully, there is no hair loose at all! I'm so glad.

Thanks for your help guys, I'm not going back.. further more, I'm not sure if I should get my hair braided anymore... I wanted to braid till I gained a little more length, maybe till the end of the year?

But after that experience, I'm not so sure..

Thing is, i'm usually quiet and sit there like an idiot in pain, but the one time I protest, on three separate occasions, I still left feeling like I'd let her rule over me *sigh* no matter, it's all over and WON'T happen again!

xx

Hey CharUK!

Glad to hear u took down dem tight braids. I rarely wear cornrows bcuz most braider braid too dang tiight. Why dont u try twists or something?

K.

I was gonna say take them down :) as well, but i see that you already did that. Sorry that she twisted it so tight :nono:. I dont know why most of these braiders think that people want to walk around feeling like their brains are being pulled out. BTW, you have a nice amount of hair, have fun playing and learning new styles ;). -- jainygirl

Glad that worked out for you! The same happened to me, I used the braid spray and the steam and that helped a lot but I never went back to those braiders again.
