What to do for his Bday

My SO bday is coming up. Can you please help with some ideas of what to do for/with him during the day. I was thinking along the lines of a hotel room, with a spa treatment and either in room lunch or lunch at the hotel rest. Thing is, that will be expensive.

Any ideas/suggestions ladies?

Ask him. What you think would be nice for him versus what he might actually like usually differ. I have given up on that part of the relationship, I always ask, as I like to be ask.
