i hav had a sew in weave for about 3 months and it is past time for me to take it out. how do u take care of your hair after it's been braided up for almost 3 months to prevent too much shedding? what products are best for taking them down? any info would be :D .

I would like to know too!
I just wash and deep condition, but I'm sure there's more I can do to make things better!

I usually just put deep conditoner in my hair for 1 hour with the heating cap and then i sleep with it on at night and wash out in the morning. My hair combs out super soft and its easier to comb through.

I just took my braids out last night. I poo'd, clarifed, but skipped the DC and have regretted it ever since. I straighted my hair and was hoping to keep it this way until my indigo arrives, but it looks like I'm going have to wash it again just so I can DC properly. :( Don't skip the 40-60 minute DC. :nono:

I love braids and weaves! After taking out my braids I would deep condition for about 4 hours - like a prepoo- w/ a heavy condition. Then I would wash, clarify and deep condition again. I would wait a few days and then do a LIGHT protein.

Deep condition 2-3x/week when freshly out of braids, keep the styles protective and low maitenance for the 1st week, then wear it down after 2 weeks of multiple deep conditioning treatments. Don't forget to dust the ends too. hth

I think den1 have a regimen in regards to taking care of your hair after taking braids out..HTH

edited-yah, I just checked her album, it is under her braid extension regimen album...

Well what I would do, when I take it out, is get a good moisturizing shampoo(like miziani) wash your hair really well. Get some aphgoee (protein tx) and do the protein tx. I would follow that up w/ the aphogee conditioner, once that's rinsed , put on a good moisturizing deep conditioner (mizani or qp dpr-11 mixed w/ honey) and leave it on for about 1 hr, doing heat if you can for 20-30 min while the hair is covered. Once rinsing, I would do so w/ cool water to cut down on frizzes, and help in sealing in moisture to the shaft. I would then gently towel dry till damp. Adding a good leave in helps, like giovanni, then I would put it in a style that can air dry. I would baby my hair, little to no heat, simple no stress styling (no ponytails or tight braids) just let it breathe for a month or so. Follow up weekly w/ a deep condition. Good luck to you!
