THIS MAY SOUND IGNORANT....BUT WHAT'S WITH ALL THE HYPE ABOUT THIS PIBBS DRYER? IS IT THE SIZE? THE TEMP? THE SPEED? OR WHAT? AND WHY DOES IT COST SO MUCH MONEY?
I HAVE NEVER SEEN IT BEFORE,EXCEPT ONLINE SO I REALLY DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT.
PLEASE TELL ME BECAUSE MAYBE I HAVE TO START SAVING FOR IT (here goes my PJism again).
HOW IS IT DIFFERENT FROM THE MINI HOODED DRYER?

You don't sound ignorant... LOL I wondered the same thing too when I first started seeing the Pibbs hype. I'm also a PJ Anyway, it's a professional salon dryer that will have you looking like you stepped out of the salon. Also, you won't be scrunched up under the table top and you'll be dried in no time. I mean the world won't stop rotating if I didn't get it, but it's a good investment for what I'm trying to do for my hair. And, yes, I was seduced by all the hype. AND I LOVE MY PIBBS!!

I have 514 and I love it. The set in my siggy is a Pibbs set.

I agree, before this deal, I only saw prices that were crazy expensive and that's not even including shipping charges. The offered price is a steal- there's no taxes or shipping added! I was going back and forth about my decision and then when this price came along I felt like it was meant to be. Not only that, but the shipping is hella fast! I'm happy I bought mine.

Glam, grrrrrl, Imma tell you like this: for my 1st rollerset with my Pibbs, I washed, DCed, and rollerset my hair. Now, I was so excited to use it, I forgot to put anything in my hair after I DCed (ie. leave in, oil or moisturizer). My last perm was in October, 2007 so I have lots of new growth and my hair is 4A (I think LOL) Anyway, I set it at 60 (the Pibbs 514) for 45 minutes. After a while, I leaned forward to see how dry my hair was getting, touched it and it was dry! I get up from under the dryer and look at the time, I had 20 minutes left! That means my hair was dried in 25 minutes! 'Nuff said

I know people are going to look at me like I have a serious problem when they see this salon hair dryer in my place

Chile, that's what closets are for LOL Shove that thing in a closet and no one will ever know.... or push it in a corner, put a flower on it and call it art They won't be looking at you all crazy when you walk around with your hair all swooshalicious! Lookin' like a hair commercial

Ok...I have had my Pibbs for about 2 months now...and I'm not impressed like everyone else. I'm wondering if I could be missing something.

Before I bought the Pibbs I had a Hot Tools stand up dryer. I actually think it worked just as well. It was just louder and didn't have a timer. My hair dried just as fast...actually i think the Hot Tools dried it faster. It was Ionic and I think that made a difference.

I like that the Pibbs has a timer and that you can set various degrees. But the hood is SMALLER than the Hot Tools I have. If I do a set with my perm rods, it will not fit under the Pibbs. I cannot use large rollers with the Pibbs...period. My hair is long...about 1 inch from waist when wet. And it's very thick, but I paid the huge amount of money because I thought the hood was gonna accommadate every roller known to man.

If I had to do it over....i would keep shopping for a larger hooded dryer.

With that said...if I had shorter hair, I do believe that it would be a good dryer since it seems very sturdy, thus it will last a while.

My 2 cents...

That would be my only complaint with my Pibbs-- the hood size. It's a great dryer and dries you in a snap! Wouldnt trade it for the world, but I can't get under there too comfortably with my black rollers. So if you're one to set on anything larger than the grays (magnetic) then you might find it a tight squeeze. I guess they can't go too large though or it might be too bulky and the drying time might not be as good.

Yeh, that's a good idea. But i find the rollers all over are super tight...unless i use the smaller ones. I've even had to put more hair on the roller to try and fit and this makes for longer drying time.

I'm not trying to discourage anyone, but i paid a lot of money for this, and I wish I had known the hood was smaller. I would have rethought buying it.

Shut up you! I barely get a chance to swang through these parts let alone snap some pictures. And you know I used to update my stuff by the week, but now shoooo... Maybe this summer sometime or during spring break.

That black set looks like a fresh flatiron-- no need to wrap to loosen the curls.

Yep. The set is faster (uses fewer rollers)and it dries faster becauce you don't have as many "revolutions" around the roller. You'll be dry in no time, especially if you're under a Pibbs.

Wow girl! I know Macherie fits with the lavenders and grays, and I can ease up in there with the blacks... that's pretty interesting that you can't fit in the lavenders! Heck, that's a good thing girl!- some fierce rollersetting! So,do you end up rolling on the red/lavender mix and then wrapping to loosen the curls? How do you manage your sets with the fitting problem?

I wonder if your setting pattern makes a difference in how you fit under the hood? :scratchch

I'm sure that there's a way to MAKE the rollers fit tighter together, but quite frankly everytime i think how much i spent on this dang drier i wonder "why am i goin thru all of this to force my head under this expensive hood?!!"

I bought the peach and yellow snap rollers from Sally's. The yellow one's are small and i just use these and then put my hair in a low ponytail overnight. This will usually take out most of the curl.

And then i might flat iron the roots some.

In a perfect world, I would be using maybe eight, 3" rollers and drying my hair for 15 minutes!

One day, don't be suprised if you see a new hooded dryer on the market named "the Madison!"

just a thought,

if the hot tools dryer works better for you, and you cant really fit comfortably under the pibbs. then maybe you should continue using the hot tools ionic and sell the pibbs. im sure there are many sisters on this site or one of the other sites (bhm gahl ect ect ect) that will buy it from you.you would be helping themout and you would also have your money back in your pocket since you arent as pleased as you could be with it.

Hope this isn't a stupid question.... but here it goes.... Do people have different size heads? If so, that could be why people have different fits under any hooded dryer.
