Let me start of by stating that I have 4 a/b hair but its soft and has extremely curly sections
I went to the salon this weekend with my all natural hair intending to either get a wave nouveau type of perm or to get my hair texturizer. I have been going to this stylist for about 3 months discussing what I want and showing her pictures of the hair style i want. She agreed several times that my hair could achieve the curl pattern that I was looking for. For the last 3 months I have been deep conditioning my hair and not putting it in braids to prep it for this new chemical change.
I get to the salon and she proceeds to ask me what I want-- I say-"remember all those pictures I showed you" she says yes and proceeds to get relaxer-- so I am assuming that she is going to texturize my hair. Just to make sure I ask her if she is texturizing and she says yes. Once Again I find a pic of the style I want-- she says my hair is short so it won't look exactly like that and I told her I understood I was just using it as a reference for the size of the curls-- she agrees.
I forgot to add that the night before I came I told her my hair was pressed and asked her if she wanted me to rinse it with cool water so my hair will curl up. She said no that wasn't necessary so when I came in my hair looked straight but she said she remembered how curly my hair was. SHe puts the relaxer on my roots as if she is doing a touch up and then makes me sit at her wash station. I ask her-- what about the ends? She looks shocked and says "you're hair is ALL natural?" I'm like yes- I told you that before and you said you remember etc.
so she rinses out the relaxer and puts relaxer on the wet ends of my hair. She says that this will just texturize my ends too. I am a little worried because I have never heard of relaxer being put on wet hair.
She then rinses that out and puts a conditioner on and keeps telling me that my hair is shedding a lot. I have had a shedding problem for about 2 years-- she knows this because I have told her several times and she comments on it all the time-- but that day she kept taking about how I was shedding a lot.
So this is were I start to think that this broad has completely screwed up my hair. She puts me back at her station and drys my hair. My hair completely broke off in the back left quadrant-- i'm talking less than an inch. And my "texturized hair" is bone straight at the roots and completely frizzy at the ends-- like underprocessed hair. I did not want a relaxer and I made that clear to her several times. Now my hair looked completely relaxed-- a bad relax job at that. She then curls my hair with a curling iron and makes my hair into this huge curly afro. I ask her-- I thought that my texturized hair will come out curly. She says no, your hair doesn't have the curl pattern to get hair like that. Ok fine but when I came in and showed her those pics, why didn't she tell me?
And do you know that she had the nerve to charge me full price (110) for this.
Now my hair feels dry and wiry-- completely broken off. And I dont know what to do. I am hesitant to start all over in my natural journey but I do not want relaxed hair. What should I do? My mom also thinks I should go back to her and have her correct it but I don't even want her to look at my hair let alone work on it. So what do you ladies think I should do?
